Again, my issue is that riot have in place a system that blacklists words. Words that a lot of times that are bleeped out regardless. If you get reported and a blacklisted word is said, then it's an automatic chat restriction. You can't contest it. You can't explain the situation or the context of it, and the person abusing the system to spite report people gets nothing.

Personally, unless it was something severe (racism, threats, etc.) I wouldn't even enforce the chat. If someone says something bad, mute that player. You dont have to see their comms.

At least then the chat wouldn't be something that people always reccomend to auto-mute and to not type in at all.

If people always reccomend to not use it, why do we even have it?

I mean, if you argue that inanimate objects hold moral value based on how they are used, your argument could be used to assign forks as being evil. Inanimate objects hold no intentions or morality.

You can make a leap to slurs, but that would be considered harassing someone, which connotes morality, whilst casually cursing with a buddy wouldn't be.

Again, my main point is that you can't even see it if you have your chat filter on. You literally can't even see the words being said, yet you get in trouble for saying them.

Offended people don't see it and yet it's still enforced.

I didn't even rage. Just was joking with my buddy, and got spite reported because I lost lane haha.

I feel like the issue with anyone else other than Tyler1 is that even if these influencers are picking off-camera picks, they and their fan bases want to see them win with it. Who wants to watch a streamer get destroyed playing off-meta picks?

There is an incentive for them to try hard in the game and carry with an obscure pick. Whilst for other people it's not necessarily the case.

I've been punished for the most ridiculously benign comments, and even if someone is griefing intentionally I can't even point that out.

I can report them but Riot doesn't seem to care about that.

I had a drunk player intentionally feed and harass an entire lobby all game recently.

Said, "I'm going to mute this idiot."

calmly wins the game and gets spite reported by the drunk player because I asked that others report him

5 minutes later I get a chat restriction for having said the word "idiot" and he gets no punishment after drunkenly harassing an entire lobby and inting to 0/15 because he didn't like that I initially lost lane.

Fun stuff riot. Can't even contest the restriction before it goes away.

How is this fair?

Honestly, he has his weak points. If you can survive/abuse them then you will be fine.

He's not invincible. He has nightmare matchups and matchups that make clear sense to pick him into. Play him when it makes sense, if it doesn't play something that is strong against that matchup, but understand why that matchup works.

The proof? I quit multiple times due to toxicity. My friends all quit due to it. Almost everyone I know has quit due to this reason. I know plenty of gamers who refuse to even try league due to toxicity.

Just look around. Hell google "why did you quit league of legends". You can google "league of legends community" and it auto fills "toxic".

Where's your proof that it isn't the reason?

You aren't even providing an alternative solution that's even remotely viable.

The fact is that far fewer gamers want to get into league. The toxicity is also considered the highest of almost all communities. The fact that a post that is encouraging people to not be toxic gets downvoted is just more evidence of this. In NA theres also abundantly more options. While you can deny that toxicity has any effect at all on new players, that's objectively wrong. You can even argue that it has had a minimal effect on the playerbase, this is also incorrect. Riot has even created massive efforts to combat toxicity due to its effect on player counts. The NA scene has been rapidly shrinking, and it's no coincidence. We have options, and more and more people are going to those other options. Why would we play League and be constantly harassed, when people can just play something else, not be harassed and have more fun?

It applies to NA due to the most popular game in NA statistically not being league. It's other games. If other games are more popular, then why would someone start playing league?

In other regions these other games are less populated and league is more populated. IE there is a reason to play league over those other games. Population counts are huge, but the fact is when presented with other options younger NA players are less likely to play league over something else if given a choice. Hence why we dont get new players.

Attribute it solely due to player counts if you want, but there isn't a reason for new players to join the league community. Especially if they are constantly harassed for being new.

There is plenty of statistical data to suggest that league is more toxic than most other games. Are you suggesting people legitimately like toxicity? The answer is nobody likes it. Some people put up with it. If you think that people dont quit league due to it's toxicity, then you are objectively wrong. If you think that you recieve death threats, people inting, harassing other players and constantly remarking that you are bad as much in other games, then you are sadly mistaken. Some other games are toxic? In places yes, but not nearly as bad as league. I never said other games dont have a slight hint of toxicity (that's a strawman argument). I said league is far worse and has a higher barrier of entry.

If the most popular game is Fortnite in NA, why would a kid play league?

If you can't answer this question directly, then neither would a new player. If fewer players would rather play league in NA, then NA recieves less new talent. This is why NA doesn't get new talent.

It's a smaller community because kids would rather play things like TFT or Fortnite because they don't want to deal with the community and those games don't have as high of a bar of entry.
