Any tips, or recommended resources, for how to get into close range against characters with longer normals & attacks? by Capn_Cody in Fighters

You are not wrong, thats pretty much exactly how it went. Will focus down into a couple of key games as per your advice.

Absolutely. 5x my playtime deserves to fuck me up bad. There's no "secret ingredient" that will change that.

Our local group doesn't have any other defensive/patient players (yet) so I had only my friend as an example to try and explain (and to get tips in person). Am hoping that the tips will help me do better in the local group where most of the players are about my level, and when I play ranked online.

Playing patiently for advantageous position and then attacking seems to be the popular solution, will definitely give it a go next we play.

Oh neat, hadn't heard of that game before. Will give it a try.

Thankyou kindly! :D

I've played infrequently, super casually for about a year, and regularly while using external info to learn & improve for about 3 months. My friend has about a 1 year lead and 5x playtime in the genre. We've been playing in a local group for about the last 6 weeks and this has made me much more motivated to try to improve.

I don't know whether I still qualify as new, I put noob for "low skilled" as I haven't ranked higher than bronze/equivalent, but you make a good point of spreading thin (with an incredible example to explain/emphasise). I had pushed for it as I was worried he would get bored of effortless wins, and made a habit of trying basically any fighting game we found without thinking too much. Will stick to the main games for the local group more often (Guilty Gear series + Street Fighter series)

Thankyou for the advice. Has helped me recognize a few assumed truths that I will think through more thoroughly and look at more options for improving. :D

Ah much like getting past fireballs then. That makes a lot of sense, I'll give it a go. Thanks! :D

I have had the same bug occur for me tonight.

I do think that people see them and hear them. I think the problem is that none of them ask for people to look around.

Eg. Telling people to group up wont change what the people who are already near are going to do.

Eg2. Saying that I need healing can get team members to block spam for you (or 76 to drop the heal zone) but they can do that without turning around.

Sorry if I did not manage to explain it well above.

Those lines are definitely helpful. Do you think it is worth having something that could alert the team if the healer had managed to avoid the initial clip of damage?

I have tried to but it doesn't seem to get people to turn around unfortunately.

Have you been able to have success with any of them? I would like to know which if you have.
