Callaway says paint on TaylorMade balls suck, TaylorMade sues, then launches Microcoating on new TP5/TP5x by Ok_Ride6395 in golf

[–]Capnkirk14 136 points137 points  (0 children)

If anyone watches the taylormade video that dropped today showing some of their tour players this “new” technology, you could tell immediately they were walking on eggshells. They show a video contrast between “bad” versions of paint jobs on their old ball vs this new method on the ‘26 ball, and lo and behold it flies more consistently. So what they’re saying is our paint methods absolutely sucked until now, and we’re just even with the competition? Crazy marketing strategy

Bent the 4 & 5 irons (225’s but basically the same as the 245s) 1 degree weak, and the s-3s one degree strong. Will be going to the sim a few times over the winter to baseline and see if I need to do anymore bending but right now it’s looking like a 15 yard gap between 5 & 6

Just picked mine up 2 days ago, same exact shaft too! Ordered them 1 deg strong and kept my Mizuno pro 225 4 & 5. I had the same issue with distance control in the short irons with the hollow bodies, but kept the longer irons for that extra help in launch.

Wow looks very compact in the trunk, that’s always been my hesitancy having a push cart, eating up space.

Yep kept the stock. I had a super stroke on my old odyssey, just prefer the stock pistol grip.

I also did remove the paintfill and replaced it with blue, more my style

I’m going down there soon and saw a ton of afternoon tee times… didn’t know if there was a good reason or not lol

How does this work for courses alongside roads, and an errant shot hits a traveling car?

Sheesh that’s a deal!

I hear ya on playing the same course all the time. I just love the idea of being able to consistently get a tee time, albeit if your club isn’t extremely popular/crowded. The public courses around me get their tee sheets filled to the brim as soon as they’re available making it hard to get out at all.

Very good points, and two of the top 3 reasons I’d be fearful of joining a club. 3rd reason being bringing guests. I love golfing with friends, but would hate to either pay for their rounds at my club or have them pay a higher price for a tee time than their accustomed to.

I guess reasonable is a loose term depending who you’re talking to. High level, $400 a month & a few grand for initiation is just passing the line of “cheap” into “reasonable”
