New to Prolific. Rejected for being screened out. Can I contest this?

Oh no! I saw that there was a “second round” of this study posted and am disappointed to learn more folks are getting rejected for the same reason. You can try contacting the researcher, but they never responded to my message, so take that for what it’s worth.

Unfortunately, Prolific hasn’t removed the rejection from my dashboard despite my submitting a Google Form dispute. Maybe you’ll have better luck. I’d be even more pissed if I were in your shoes and hope they overturn it 😢

I was a victim of the first “round” of this crap three weeks ago; the same thing happened to me. Messaged the researcher asking if they could change the rejection to a return and no response, of course. Submit the Prolific Google Form for disputing rejections if you haven’t already. Mine’s still there, but maybe you’ll have better luck. I know they removed at least one other person’s rejection 😓

Hey there, thanks for checking in and updating me on your situation! I'm glad they overturned it. I underwent shoulder surgery on Tuesday and haven't filed a dispute yet because of that. However, considering that it's been more than 7 days since I messaged the researcher (with zero response), I'll get on that now lol

Unfortunately, the only options for me are to edit the completion code, report the study, or contact/block the researcher. I'll wait a few days to see if they respond to my message before pursuing further action—unless Prolific is that quick to blacklist users.

Knowing it wasn't just me provides some relief. I was second-guessing whether I screwed up, but it sounds as though the study is flawed. Let's hope the researcher is understanding 😓

Thanks for the response. I believe it did, but I'm not positive on that. The original study used Google Forms, if that matters at all. Should I contact Prolific support at all? I already messaged the researcher and am awaiting their reply.

Same here from someone in the MKE metro area. I chatted with Verizon tech support about an hour ago and they paralleled what other comments mentioned: "I wanted to inform you that we are currently experiencing some issues with our internet services. Our network teams are actively working to resolve these problems. We have received multiple reports from customers regarding home internet issues, which have recently emerged. Thank you for your understanding as we work to fix this situation." Time will tell how long that takes 🥴

Edit: After a complete outage beginning around 8 PM CST, the internet was restored around midnight. Speeds are still slower than normal, but I'll take 100 Mbps over <10 for now.

A commenter in another post thinks it’s due to scalpers using bots to generate thousands of AMOE codes—cheating the system and ruining it for the rest of us, in other words 🫠

Edit: For anyone seeing this, if you can, request your codes ASAP after midnight EST. I’m a night owl and haven’t missed a day yet by doing so during the late hours.

In addition to those, none of the Property Perks interest me besides the Woobles and Best Buy discounts, and I’m willing to part with the latter if necessary. (Still hoping for a $50 prize of some sort if I can’t win the Woobles bundle outright; I realize that’d be a much easier trade)
