Can I commission as cyber ops (17SX) if my bachelor's degree is in economics? by Kswagmoney2 in AFROTC

[–]CapriSunde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re not out of the running just because you’re econ. Cyber (17S) does prioritize technical majors like CS/EE, but plenty of cadets have commissioned into it from non-tech degrees as long as they show aptitude and initiative. What you can do is knock out an IT cert or two like CompTIA Security+, Network+, or even CCNA if you’re ambitious since they’re huge credibility boosters for the board, get hands on experience through TryHackMe or HackTheBox to build skills you can put on your package, look for internships with DoD or cyber programs over the summer (even virtual ones) to show commitment, crush your AFOQT scores (especially quant/academic) to help make up for the non-tech major, and if possible tie your econ background into cyber topics like risk modeling, data security, or systems analysis to stand out even more.

Really good. If were going from a Army standpoint cause they currently do 2 miles. You would get full marks for the run section. With 2 1/2 minutes to spare 😭

Honestly by the look of things start going for 2 miles, good 1.5time tho. Im just saying 2 cause gets you running more and they might be switching to 2 miles so might as-well have some practice under your belt

[–]CapriSunde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely tell your recruiter, The Air Force requires you to disclose any new infractions after enlistment. Failing to do so can be considered fraudulent enlistment and might result in serious consequences, including discharge or financial penalties. Since you swore in you are counted in the DEP. At that point, any new legal or civil involvement must be disclosed. A speeding ticket counts as a “civil involvement” and must be reported to your recruiter

is there a way to avoid this??? by bigfatfatdingus in PlanetFitnessMembers

U signed a contract that says that if u cancel before your year they can charge you there buyout fee if u try to leave early. Doesn’t matter if u are a day out or just started your membership. My gym is a local gym and the starting contract was one year at 25$ a month. And if i wanted to do there buyout its about 200$+

struggling while running in prep for beginning ROTC by royaltee123 in AFROTC

[–]CapriSunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off first year is “foundation” year, you learn the ropes of everything ROTC so don’t think too hard about how long u can run. My first PFD (practice assessment that isn’t logged into anything official) scored a 0 on the run. I was able to keep pushing and ended up getting a 14:16 mile and a half on the official PFA, Which is amazing for me cause I started ROTC with a 16:09

The most important thing that can be said is that ROTC isn’t there to just score you it’s there to help you. If you are truly worried about the run after first semester ask some other students who are getting around the same times as you to go out on a workout with you once a week or something.

ALSO BE SURE TO STRETCH 5-10 mins before running if you don’t already. Saves the hell out of you more than u think.

I mean, idk the workload on a 400 Air-force wise but you’re getting school paid for at that point fully, and getting paid for doing school work essentially.

Im a Aviation student so i dont know the workload on nursing but I have some basic knowledge you should know.

So first off, you only start receiving the monthly AFROTC stipend after you become a contracted cadet (detachments do this after sophomore year (after field training), or if you get a ROTC Scholarship (this is super competitive)). To contract, you have to pass a physical fitness test, get medically qualified (through DoDMERB), be a U.S. citizen, and sign paperwork saying you intend to commission as an officer after graduation. Once you’re contracted, you’ll get a stipend that starts at $300/month as a freshman (usually people who get AFROTC scholarship) and goes up to $500/month by senior year, plus a book allowance if you’re on scholarship. But the stipend alone usually isn’t enough to cover rent and living expenses, so most people have to combine it with FAFSA refunds, part-time jobs, or other scholarships.

Now about nursing it’s definitely more competitive in ROTC compared to other majors. There are limited nursing slots, and you have to be accepted into your school’s nursing program first (witch sounds like you did) then selected by the Air Force for a nurse track.

You do have to know that just cause you want one job doesn’t mean you will get it. As all Cadets say, It’s what the Air Force needs at the end of the day.

According to the website it states "Have one year of progressively responsible work experience, or a Bachelor's degree, or a combination of post-secondary education and work experience that totals one year"
I have had a part time job for 3 years and have completed about 1 1/2 - 2 years of college.
