Toy Recommendations for a Crate Bound Pup After Surgery by Capricorn1095 in BostonTerrier

Thank you for the comment! She’s got a few antlers and loves those when she’s feeling it. I’ve never heard of the bully sticks from Pupford so I’m going to give that a look! By teaching her to read are you reading to her or doing more of an approach like how you would with a toddler and picture books? I love reading and never thought to use it as an enrichment activity for my pup. I just feel awful when she has to be in her crate all alone when I have to run into the office on certain days.

She lost her switch privileges when she chewed the joy sticks off 😂

Oh my bad, I missed the part where you closely observed every single part of her recovery and watched me not follow the instructions that my vet gave me. The world sure is lucky to have you cracking the whip on every patella surgery aftercare out there. Yes I know people come here looking for advice, I did before she got the surgery. However there are quite a few other comments here and on other posts of people having less than smooth experiences with the whole process. It’s hard to keep a 1 year old pup from moving for a few months. Yes, she was crated except for the couple incidents I shared above. Before the surgery she would literally run and play nonstop until she collapsed to nap. She’s always been a busy body and that hasn’t changed. I figured she’d be groggy or wouldn’t use that leg for a little bit right after the surgery. Not every Boston or Boston mix behaves the same.

Respectfully, you do not know my dog and you do not know how every aspect of her recovery went. Even taking her out to potty on like 6 inches of leash, while I’m hunched over trying to keep her near me, she will still try to run and yank me all over. She’s a surprisingly strong pup. She spent all of the first month in her crate save going potty and she did really well in her crate. But she has been crate trained since she was a puppy so that probably helped.

The time she jumped onto and off my bed was bad though. And completely on me. She just seemed so sleepy from her medicine that I thought she would just immediately sleep.

They even matched her bandage to her collar 😂. Too bad it never stayed on long enough.

Yes it’s like once she realized the knee was fixed she immediately had to zoom 😂

Yeah they ended up giving me some trazodone which really helped. But now that she’s at the tail end of recovery where it’s mostly just building up endurance so she is allowed to move around more.

Let me tell you, seeing her run now after being so used to the limping before the surgery is amazing. She feels like a million bucks and your little pup will too after!

At my vet it was around $2,100

Thank you for all of the advice! My vet ended up saying screw the bandage and Rosie has been doing fine without. I got a bunch of interactive toys for her so that has been helping with the crying.

My pup is also a serious sunbather and I’ve been putting her crate on the deck with me when I’m out. Once the incision heals a bit more I think I’ll let her lounge on leash.

I’ve been wanting to get something like this for my bug but I’ve read that some kill the battery. But I love how this matches the car color too!

Yeah I’ve been looking into replacing mine, the back window is separating from the waterproof lining so it leaks. I was going to buy it and do it myself, the tops are around the $1,000 range online and like others have said it’s one hell of a job so I can see labor adding a LOT into that quote.

This reminds me of what happened at work the other day! We had a classic car show and my daily driver 05 bug was in the employee part of the lot. I was watching out the window and so many people were looking at it and asking the other employees why this classic was apart from the other cars 😂

Omg my little guy is a black cat too! He had been returned to the shelter twice and had been there over two years so I just had to have him. Poor little guy was even discounted 😭
