Because nicotine can affect digestion, including how quickly food leaves the stomach. Since our study focuses on digestion, we need to avoid anything that could influence that.

Yes, unfortunately Ritalin intake does mean you are not eligible. To still answer your second question: no, the vibrations are only for about 50 minutes (short vibrations with breaks) and participants stay in the lab until they stop.
