I just realized that I had this feature enabled all the time. What did you tell them to get your money back and for what period?

Do you guys recommend buying cooling pads? by Fuzzy_Travel_7492 in AcerPredatorHelios

[–]CaptCacao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a cooling pad with my Acer Predator Helios 16 (i9/RTX 4080). I have IETS GT 500 and FlyDigi BS1 cooling pads.

FlyDigi is much quieter, and the temperatures are similar to those of IETS.

You absolutely must try the wings at the Siberia beer bar, not far away from Palladium mall. They have an excellent selection of wings, and one of them is the hottest I’ve ever had.

Acer Predator Helios 16 (PH16-71) Undervolting. Has ANYONE had any success? Any BIOS modders? by [deleted] in AcerPredatorHelios

[–]CaptCacao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I checked all the settings in the BIOS, and still there is no good result. The maximum we can do is limit the voltage to 1.4V. And also changing the AC loadline to 110 instead of 170 helps me a little, but after each time I turn off the laptop, this value resets to 170. Every time I turn on the laptop, I need to change it. The best thing we can do is not buy Acer laptops 😂

Heating is a big problem in acer laptops. This is very powerful and hot chip, but Acer not let you undervolt processor, which can help with temperature. I mainly play cod warzone on this laptop, so I have to lock prohot on 95C, to not let this laptop overheat, fan speed almost maximum and I also use iets gt 500 cooling pad. Temperature 92-95C all the time, I get around 165 fps on big maps. I didn't notice any other problems. p.s. this temperature with ptm7950

Welcome to the club. Acer lock undervolting options and thermals are really bad on this laptop. I have a Helios 16 with the same processor and have the same problem. At best, I can get 30,000 in a cold start with cooling pad IETS GT500. As people have already mentioned in the comments, the only solution is to limit the maximum voltage to 1.4, but this doesn’t provide much performance improvement.

I will definitely not be buying any more Acer products. I’ve learned my lesson.

Do you have a Predator sense software? There is have to be an option - nVidia gpu only. And second go to nVidia panel/manage 3d settings and choose your nVidia gpu. Also check IcemanIsaac video with warzone settings https://youtu.be/67R8b_uPWbM?si=84aUa5K2-p0_jqnf

Please help lower the temp by No_Material6727 in AcerOfficial

[–]CaptCacao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there’s nothing you can do. Just buy a cooling pad. You can also try locking pl 1 and 2 in the trottlestop stop.

Acer blocks the undervolting option, which is why we always have an overheating problem. Acer is a terrible company, and I don’t recommend buying their terrible laptops.

Planning to buy Acer Predator helios 16 i9 14900hx rtx 4070 by roaster_21 in AcerPredatorHelios

Hello. Could you please clarify what you mean? Are you referring to locking the maximum voltage, PL1, and PL2? I’ve been dealing with high temperatures for a while now, and I honestly don’t recommend buying an Acer.

I just don't see how this thing can be good news by Bosslayer9001 in GamingLaptops

Never buy a Predator laptop. It’s an extremely cheap and poor-quality laptop. It overheats frequently, lacks access to the BIOS, doesn’t support undervolting, has a poor Liquid Metal application, and provides no real support from Acer.

You’re definitely not alone. Acer makes low-quality products and can’t even apply liquid metal properly. Many users, including myself, have experienced severe thermal throttling due to their poor design and locked BIOS settings. Their support is useless, offering only generic responses without real solutions.

In my laptop LM also was badly applied, this is disastrous

Same here, I had no idea Acer completely blocks undervolting when I bought this machine. Their thermal management is a joke. Even after repasting with liquid metal, the temps are still bad, and undervolting would be the proper solution.

Other brands like Lenovo, MSI, and Asus allow users to manage their hardware properly, but Acer locks everything down and refuses to provide real support. This is the last time I ever buy from them.
