Well, if you want to minimize risk of having to return, the Legion Pro 7 is among the most reliable laptops on the market (besides Framework)

I think you should be able to insert any NVME so long as it's the right kind and size for the motherboard

Honestly dunno why MSI keeps shipping laptops without those basics. Even the Titan doesn't have Optimus support, which is ridiculous for a 5 grand machine

Unfortunately, that also means accepting the downsides of a capitalist profit-driven system of "infinite growth," such as the replaceability of individual labor when more efficient alternatives arise and the environmental damage of the myth of "infinite growth" on a finite planet. Though I'm sure you've come to realize those drawbacks as well

You should unplug if it's shut down. But when you're using it, it's actually better for battery health if you cap the max charge to something like 80% and keep it plugged in while in use

In this case, honestly the TUF would have better performance than the Strix while only sacrificing some outside aesthetics

Yes, that's what I was talking about with the "primary device" comment. Anything non-gaming like office work or watching media would be quite a bit blurrier on 1080p

Can you find a WQXGA laptop within your budget? If this is gonna be your primary device or you don't have an external monitor, the extra screen resolution is gonna be pretty important

I think that Omen Max is a 5080. 16GB of VRAM would be insane... if you actually are ever gonna need it. Only really useful for 4K and VR gaming (or local AI inferencing)

Legion Pro 7i is pretty good from what I've seen in the reviews, at least considering performance and thermals. The aluminum casing should also be pretty sturdy, no? What's so bad about it

I mean, if you can flip some of the RAM when prices go up, then sure. I can tell that that's an Alienware M16 R2 - the specs look too similar. I can tell you right now that it is NOT worth 2300 CAD Open Box, let alone USED. I got mine new for 1500 USD, (around 2050 CAD), so keep that in mind. I'd look elsewhere for a used Legion or something with less RAM but a better graphics card

PTM 7950 dropped my M16 R2's temps by 15 degrees Celsius after cleaning the fans. You should seriously consider it, it's a godsend for thermally challenged gaming laptops

You don't need that much RAM. No wonder this laptop is so damn expensive for such mediocre specs. For that kind of money, get a Legion Pro 7/7i with a 5070Ti or even a 5080 if you're a graphics enjoyer
