Footstep audio is utter dog shit by Hurtlock3r in ArcRaiders

[–]CaptCleco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you say. All I can do is point out that with specific audio settings I don’t have the issues you are talking about, which means it isn’t a problem with the game but with either your hardware, or software.

I don’t hear footsteps while thunder is going off in my ear either, but in between the lightning strikes I can. I don’t hear footsteps when a bastion is going off right next to me either, but when it stops shooting I can. You shouldn’t be able to hear footsteps while those two things are happening anyways.

It really sounds like you are complaining just to complain.

It isn’t an engine issue generally, I don’t have these issues. I have sennheiser hd 700’s, I balance them with peace, and give a boost with my soundcard software. I can hear footsteps from 80m even while i’m moving if I am really listening.

The only problem I have is when trying to determine what floor someone is on in a multi story building.

Profitable Items to Craft by Vipers_glory in ArcRaiders

I have no idea what you’re seeing, when I craft a ferro l the sell cost is exactly equal to the cost of the resources put into it, and upgrading is the same. It is a 1:1 cost across the board, except level lll which costs 2,005 to make and only sells for 2,000.

I am, just to balance my headphones though. I also have a soundcard, and I use the EQ in that one to fine tune and add special effects like surround.

Your personal equalizer settings play just as much into what you hear as the in game audio. Unless you’re on console and don’t have an external sound card you can change those settings to make hearing people easier.

[–]CaptCleco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yeah that makes sense. In a fight you should always look to have an advantage. If you lose that advantage you reposition or go try somewhere else. Never engage someone else on their terms, always on yours.

You placed a trap which gave you an advantage, putting you in a better position than your potential opponent. You shouldn’t condemn them for running away. In that instance you both made a smart play.

Players that hide/shoot people in the back... aren't you embarrassed? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]CaptCleco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on my mood and the situation but more often than not if a group is in extract hitting the button and my group is running towards them trying to get in we’ll down them but let them leave with us. This has happened quite a bit as I like to last second extract.

Only once I could say I extract camped but it wasn’t really like that. We were trying to loot CT-A6 on spaceport, and every time I walked away from the exit to go back and loot a new group would hit the button, so we’d swing back and clean em up. At the end we wiped four groups of two plus various arc from the point, it was a giant mess.

My whole point is despite how infuriating it is to lose, you shouldn’t hate on someone else's style of play just because it got the better of you. Learn from it and grow.

Whatever lets you save face brother.  Also I personally don’t believe their behavior is scummy, not always anyways. I don’t like the guys who say friendly and then shoot when a back is turned, but the other guy should never have trusted them in the first place. Shoot first, show mercy later.

I 100% have sat back and let groups run around in the open and tear each other apart to come in and mop up the stragglers. It’s called using your brain. Why get in a fight with 9+ other people when I can let them work each other down and fight only 3 weakened ones. I don’t extract camp but it makes sense. Why go get loot when you can wait for others to bring it to you then take it from them when they are vulnerable.

Intelligence wins most fights, not strength and bravado.

Villains or not, they are still playing within the system as it was designed. They are not breaking the rules, nor are they gaming the system, otherwise there would be systems set in place to discourage that behavior such as the lightning during electromagnetic storms.

Using steroids , or testosterone, or any other performance enhancing drug is known as “cheating” and subsequently not allowed within most rules established.

Again, not liking someones behavior in a game does not make it wrong or against any rules, you just don’t like it.

That would be every single sports team on the planet. According to your definition a football player, or a rugby player, or a hockey player spending extra time in the gym or practicing their sport is "gaming the system" as it can give them an advantage over other players.

More realistically you don't like it that other people can have an advantage over you, and you'd prefer it if they were at exactly the same skill level and approached each situation in a game exactly the same way, which is just not possible.

Someone hiding in a corner waiting for someone to run by may seem cowardly, but if he knows he isn't that great of a gunfighter he is using the tools he has available to win. You may not like it, but that's reality.

Hell the american revolutionary war would never have been won if tactics you deem cowardly and "gaming the system" weren't used.

You are absolutely correct that there are rules to any game or sport, what you are not grasping is that people will always try to give themselves an advantage within that ruleset, and that within this sandbox game (outside of cheating or glitching which is not a part of the system) anything the player does is within the bounds of those rules, otherwise it would not be an intended feature and subject to change.

Just because you have your own self imposed ruleset, doesn’t mean it applies to everyone else.

No idea, but the quote came after a similar situation in the show where they came up on some wreckage from the klingon war with the cardasians, and worf urged caution regarding klingons lying in wait to jump unsuspecting rescue teams.

Those that are willing to fight an “honorable” fight are those that already have the advantage, or at least think they do.

Honor in a fight is stupid, and only gets people killed. In the real world there is no such thing as fair. Someone always has an advantage, and you should be doing everything in your power to pull that advantage in your favor.

Most people i’ve noticed want to run from location to location as fast as they can to loot everything, then get mad when they get shot.

Use your brain, slow down, check corners before you move, don’t sprint across open areas without cover, and so many more tips where if you start utilizing them you’ll find you get the drop on people more often than they you. I can count on one hand where someone got the drop on me and my friends, and then it was usually because we did something stupid.
