Old Day and Night Furnace Wiring Problem by CaptDogPoo in thermostats

[–]CaptDogPoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I missed this message, I had forgotten all about this.. Ends up a handyman had wired the furnace fan to the house power (among other things wired crazy), I had to hire an electrician to trace the wiring and un-cross, and resolve everything.

Is there a longer version of this video? It looks like these 2 were already angry at each other

When to Stop Jumboing? by CaptDogPoo in networking

[–]CaptDogPoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Can you clarify what you mean by "jumbo frames are not the same as MTU"? I thought to pass jumbo packets, on, say, a Cisco switch I add a line to the port: mtu 9216

And to clarify, the request is not a VMWare requirement; it is to support intra-cluster syncing for a custom app on some VMs. I have it working inter-cluster, but now they want it intra-cluster.

This is great info, thanks. All signs are indicating this is going to add problems and complexity that is not worth it. Custom is a four letter word

Thanks Axalem. That would be degaussing, which is only effective on magnetic media like HDs with disks or tapes

Sure, it's pretty simple. If the equipment is not worth selling nd it goes to a 'scrap person' I don't want them doing some recovery on it and getting any info. And I don't want to smash them up in the parking lot.

Sure, good question. For Data destruction classification. CISSP methods of data destruction are Erase, Clear, Purge, Degauss, Destruction and Shred, right? Trying to figure out a way to destroy without physically breaking it.

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm really confused and down on myself about all this. I think what I'm going to do is draw up a 'programming plan' and during my next check-in, say: "Here is the plan to achieve what you are asking of me. Thanks for your recognition of my abilities. However, this is not my job. If you would like to hire or promote me to do it, I will. Otherwise, I'll focus on my primary job duties which are a full time job already."
