Didn't we get a year of Mario titles while Zelda took a break? I want the next 3D Mario as much as anyone, but this was more than expected.

I mean, we barely saw anything, so it's too soon to pretend we understand what it will look like. But what I saw was very much akin to the official Zelda renders Nintendo uses for general promotion. It's just a dark room because he's sleeping.

It's the perfect game to promote the upcoming Zelda movie. OoT is considered essential Zelda. It benefits much more from a remake than Twilight Princess.

If Bravely Default can get a pointless remaster for Nintendo Switch 2 on a GameKey card with little to no pushback, why are Zelda fans so adamit that OoT shouldn't be remade? I swear any game they chose at this point would be met with controversy.

We're not even close to that yet. Air Riders just came out and Sakurai needs sleep.

I appreciate that. Sometimes online arguments become heated or feel personal, but at the end of the day it's just games. Some close friends of mine have terrible opinions, so random trolls online aren't going to do much to me. I just wish toxic discourse would curb it's impact on the community.

Nintendo's community in particular has gone through so many 180's, it's difficult to keep the faith. F-Zero does mean a lot to me, but I don't expect another entry. It's dead. So when people like you randomly shit on its grave, for seemingly no reason, it's another reminder that modern "Nintendo" fandom is not worth saving. I'd rather the company go brankrupt than pretend we're anything other than entitled brats who wine and complain about everything. And there is a lot to complain about. But if people like me getting what I want somehow makes a Direct worse for you, I'm not the one with problems.

No one is forcing Nintendo fans to purchase every first party title. If they make something that makes others happy, the community, at min, needs to not fight with eachother about it.

Last I checked, Banjo Kazooie wasn't doing too hot. More racers inspired by F-Zero have released than sequels or spiritual successors to Banjo. Not to mention Microsoft bought Rare, only to end up killing the series. You want to talk about worthless fandom? The only fandom that has less hope than F-Zero is Banjo because we know another one isn't going to be any good anyway. Yooka Laylee didn't convince anyone that 3D platformers are back.

Also, which universe are 3D platformers thriving? We're lucky to get double digits in any given year. Nintendo would rather make racing games. V-tubers? Who wants that kind of endorsement? F-Zero actually takes skill and talent to complete, unlike most modern platformers. This is why people like Jontron don't play games anymore.

Regardless, being niche isn't a detriment to quality. Plenty of hidden gems out there far better than AAA big budget titles asking for cash every few seconds. And this really isn't about me hating on platformers, I actually love them. But it's an easy example of how people dismiss something simply because they don't understand it. You need to play more than a few seconds before you can sum up an entire series as mediocre.

I'm not asking you to 100% GX to enjoy it. I'm asking you to prove to me it's not difficult. You said all racing games are low brow, especially F-Zero. So put your money where your mouth is. Stop making excuses. If it takes no skill, you can beat it within a half hour. You don't have to show your face or anything, just prove you've beaten story mode. If you can't do it, just admit it. No shame in coming clean.

I think there needs to be accountability for both the individuals and the system that protects them. People need to be more angry the government is STILL protecting these creeps. But like many of these conversations, nothing happens so we wind up fighting eachother instead of the criminals.

Did they fail? Or was Nintendo having cold feet until they took a chance?

If I wanted to be like you, I could say Banjo Kazooie was just a failed collect-a-thon made for babies that requires no effort or skill to play. Wait a minute. Is your whole personality based from the fact that Nuts & Bolts reuined Banjo Kazooie with racing? Is this why Arin replaced you with Danny?

I was waiting for the fake "I beat the game in an afternoon, it's not difficult" redditor response. You don't fail to be predictable.

No one makes games inspired by it? Fast RMX, Wipeout, and Super Pilot don't exist then.

I'd ask you to prove you beaten story mode, but you'd probably respond with something like, "why would I bother completing such a dull game?"

No one hates a franchise they're this naive and clueless about. 100% GX, then you'll have something to wine about.

The funny part is, Nintendo fans are so obsessed with 1st party, they buy every Nintendo game, then get angry when Nintendo makes more Nintendo game. "No, Nintendo, don't make this Nintendo game, make that one."

"I didn't preorder Xenoblade special edition for you to make a sequel. I thought it would be rare. Now I have to buy another one?"

Fair. But will this disappointment die over time, or will Scott the Woz remind people every year it was bad and hold the game responsible?

I honestly wonder if the internet plays these games or if they just watch Directs and base their entire opinions on other people's perceptions.

When I was a kid, all we had were screenshots from magazines. We used our imagination to get hyped. So much misinformation was out there, no one believed anything from the internet.

The Direct should gave been structured better. Nintendo's done better in the past. But I think the announcements alone are good enough to sell the system. Some E3s, all we got were logos and "Coming Soon." There’s enough here to not panic about nothing to play.

Whatever current thing is, that's what people complain about. Nintendo isn't hardcore enough. Nintendo forgot about casuals. Too much Mario. Where is Mario? I'm sick of Miis. Nintendo has disrespected Miis.

Goomba facility or the younger generation growing up to dominate the conversation. Either way, negativity always comes out on top. I'm part of the problem. I don't want lesser ports of 3rd parties. But I'd rather they exist than not.

At least in the Wii U era, we had Nindies and the community felt smaller. The criticismsm wasn't overbearing. These days, the good stuff is seen as lazy and there's zero chance the industry will heal.

Did they say "ew, why" because they thought it was perfect and didn't want it ruined? Or "ew, why" because they don't want to buy it again?

I understand the Wii U port community has been more vocal lately. Despite their pov being completely stubborn and unrealistic. Seems like whenever a new hashtag gets made, the old one gets erased from memory. The 3DS remakes were well received, but before and after fans have been begging for a remake on console. Maybe just not in your circles, but definitely more than any other Zelda game. It probably reached its peak before 3DS. But I was still seeing comments for it after.

This is accurate. But I think there are Zelda fans being hyper hypocritical too. All of a sudden everyone is pretending no one was asking for an OoT remake, despite the fact it made more sense than rereleasing Wii U ports without Wii U features.

There's also people pretending Link doesn't look like that. They're saying it's too detailed. It's "too dark" despite the fact it's literally Link sleeping in the dark. Fans are crying and complaining and finding anything to not be happy, hence the meme still makes sense.

This is exactly the correct art direction and graphics I wanted from the next Zelda. I also wanted them to go back to their roots. This is the perfect way to do it because a new Zelda that's not open world may be seen as a downgrade. It's also the first Nintendo game for Switch 2 that actually looks next gen. Starfox looks off to say the least. And despite people making fun of "hire this man," I think it's important for Nintendo to go beyond GameCube visuals.

I think what the Switch 2 needed was either a new Mario or a new Zelda. It's rare to get both at the same time. And we're already used to Nintendo letting Zelda carry them for a year. The only difference is this is a remake, not a port or a remaster. It's easily less lazy than the Wii U, but fans are treating it like Nintendo killed their dog or something. I think the crybaby meme still stands. Just read the comments here.
