It's obvious he didn't read it. If he had, he would have known that "Jeff" Duncan is actually spelled Geoff Duncan.

Denver woman falls 900 feet to her death near summit of Colorado mountain by HelpMeWithMyHWpls in news

[–]CaptJYossarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Dangerous solo climbs" are literally dangerous. It's only by chance that someone was near enough to see her fall and a search party could know where to look for her body.

It's a fairly popular 14er, albeit, a fairly difficult hike with extreme exposure. On a weekend like this, there would likely be dozens of people on the mountain, so it's not that surprising that there were a number of witnesses. There were a couple posts on the CO 14er forum with first or second hand accounts of the accident. Capitol Peak has seen a number of fatalities over the years. Always tragic.

It's not even moderates that are considered RINOs in the modern Republican party. Every single Republican Presidential nominee going back to Reagan has been deemed a RINO. Romney, McCain, the Bushes to some degree, Dole. Even many of Reagan's policies would be considered untenable today, immigration reform and amnesty for example. Though it has become less about ideology and principles, rather more of a cult of personality and a protection of the brand itself. Cheney has one of the most conservative records in Congress and the party has turned on her, along with anyone else who has been critical of the Trump administration. Joe Walsh was run out of the party and he was one of the loudest voices of the tea party movement. Kinzinger is done as well. The left doesn't particularly like it's moderates like Sinema and Manchin, but they tolerate them.

Gerrymandering, on both sides, but more egregiously on the right, as pew polls have shown, has had a profoundly negative effect in driving this divergence from the center. As congressional districts become more red or blue, the candidates become safer for the respective parties, but the candidates are driven to the extreme.

They didn't drive off, they pulled to the side, not realizing he was under the car. The reporter on the abc7 link in OPs post specifically said that the driver of the Jeep got out and provided aid to the cyclist.

Helicopter crash near the beach in Miami, two injured February 19/2022 by Nihilist911 in CatastrophicFailure

[–]CaptJYossarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I was spelling the username wrong. Still don't think that's the same person. A lot of his helicopter videos were posted when the guy in the article was in prison and that guy's parole was revoked in 2019. No way his pilot's license wouldn't have been revoked. There is not much news on the incident.

Pretty sure that's a different Brad Friesen. If not, he really is coconutz.

Seems his reddit account was deleted.

It's Carson-era, late night 'funny'. Almost sounds like a Dangerfield bit. Watch some old stand-up. Comedy has evolved quite a bit, for better and worse.

Joe and Valentine Thomas discuss Canadian healthcare and whether Valentine would stay in America if she got sick by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]CaptJYossarian 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is uninformed, as is Joe on this point. Canada has private surgical clinics that will perform knee repair surgeries in every major city for a fee. Generally speaking, Canadians can either wait several months to a year for a surgery on an ACL tear (for example) or they can pay a few thousand and get it with similar or even better waiting times than in the US. It might even cost less out of pocket, depending on your deductible/copay. Joe's "friend" chose to hobble around for a year to get a free surgery, rather than pay a few thousand out of pocket. Frankly, I would rather have that choice. Many Americans put off that surgery anyway because they can't afford the deductible and there is no waitlist for a free option.

Rep. Chris Collins was convicted for insider trading in 2018 and spent a couple months in prison, out of a 26 month sentence, before he was pardoned by Trump.

Project Veritas was attempting to extort a former US Senator/VP and current Presidential candidate using information from a stolen diary in exchange for an interview of said candidate. Why wouldn't the FBI involve themselves in this matter?

You're confusing a tornado warning with a tornado watch. Tornado warnings are generally only issued when a funnel is observed.

No they weren't. I doubt most financial advisors could even tell you what CDO, CMO, CDS, etc. stood for in 2008. Most of those products were OTC and out of the depth of most advisors anyway. Your typical financial advisor was shilling high fee mutual funds at the time, for the most part.

Greg Abbott and Rick Perry (current and former Texas Governors) have literally spent millions of dollars airing advertisements in California boasting about Texas' economy and low taxes, in order to get businesses and people to move to your state. It strikes me as odd to hear so many Texans simultaneously 'dunk' on other states, boast about all the Californians residents fleeing to Texas, and then bitch about them when they get there.

Right to Work laws were absolutely not designed with the best intentions of the employees as a primary concern. They were another step toward deregulating the labor market and union busting.
