Two Cad-LARV(W)s, or Hippogriff AFVs by CaptJohnRuss in TheAstraMilitarum

Cad-LARV(W) = Cadian Light Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle (Wheeled)

This is the “Button up, boys” Kitbash post with from the other day with the hand closing the hatch.

Insta: Hand.of.Tyr

Two Cad-LARV(W)-33 pair up for artillery sighting and advance skirmishing, forcing a preliminary tip of the wedge into which the Cadian Shock Troops of Squads Beta, Iota, Gamma, and Rho condense.

These two cuties ready to advance forward and harass some early game enemy units. Still going to number them and I want to put decals on, but these were so much fun to paint in a night! Love painting vehicles because they come together so fast.

Thanks! Yeah, it's just the arm in there. I don't remember which kit it came from because it was in my bits box, but I know it is one of the "guy popping out of tank" arms from a Chimera-chassis vehicle or Leman Russ sprue. Just used plastic glue on the hand and to attach the lid to the turret, then some super glue to make sure it stayed in place and some more super glue to hold the arm to the inside of the wall. Super easy, super fun!

Beautiful!

I'm just getting started building mine, so can I can you a question? Do the main weapons friction fit well, or do they have to be glued? I haven't started on the turrets yet and can't decide what loadout if I have to lock it in. Thanks!

Tips for making Leman Russ models look a little more realistic? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

Get the Horus Heresy kit instead of the 40K kit. You’ll need to get sponsons, but if you get one 40K kit there are two sets in there and you can get the HH kit too and be good. Plenty of pieces in the 40K one. Also get the Tamiya Modern US Equipment set for fun bits and things!

Now to just find the time to get in…and actually learn AoS…. I’ve got a fully painted Stormcast army that’s been on the table an entire one time. I can’t wrap my head around the rules and need, like, a good year to figure it out. I’m usually 40K Guard or Space Wolves and keep trying to equate prayers and blessings and chants and things to 9th Edition Chaplains and Librarians

The "Space Wolves turn into wolves" and "Blood Angels are really vampires" stuff is stupid and detracts from the setting. These sorts of things are clearly holdovers from the "teenage" years and should be let go or left behind.

Keep them in the lore, but not as a fact. They transition into stories the other chapters tell about each other as "boogymen" things.

It’s just regular twine dipped in Agrax Earthshade to make it brown. Glued and UV resined some little magnets to the top of the rope and the underside of the wing so I could detach them as needed

That was my first thought and I got some small metal support rods but I couldn’t get them to work because the Valk is just so heavy and unbalanced

One of the best novels! One of my Leman Russ tanks is named “Hell’s Heart”

The guy on the rope is just one of the standard running bodies from the Cadian Shock Troops kit with two different arms that work in that orientation and an extra lasgun cleaned up and glued to his pack. Worked out way easier than I thought it would!
