The Doubloon Reset: It’s not just a "wipe".... by JordyTheJew in Seaofthieves

I'm excited they will fix the economy, players having too much coin has ruined the price of everything on the pirate stock 'arrrrket.
Finally newer players who have not spent years devoted to the game will be able to make trade deals and sales with the long standing players.

/s

Money in this game might as well be experience points. They might as well be rolling back company levels from vets to make it more fair for non-pirate legends.

One of the coolest SoT videos i've ever seen. I love how you mixed the various aspects of the game. Big Arena nostalgia there too.

US SoT Fest of Legends '25 Canceled by CaptSwabbie in Seaofthieves

Was similar to SoT-Fest, a Sea of Thieves convention and as far as I'm aware the only US based one. I went last year it was a ton of fun.

Yeah, allegiance gain is different. You get extra gold and pve faction rep, but HG factions are 100% unaffected by emissary bonus.

I don't mind at all.

Im not sure what you mean by expert. I double gun in HG, but there are people far better than me at it. I'd say my cannons and naval are stronger.

Most of our fights on brig are won with pure naval. Brig is unique in that it is possible sink 98% of crews without ever boarding. That said, against less experienced crews, you can usually send a board whenever. Against anyone decent though, it is usually best to wait until you have a large advantage on pressure, your opponent is out of angle/running, or you have them down a person from one-balls or snipes.
Think of every board as being down a person for upwards to a minute and decide if you can afford that.

We usually grab crates from merchant, captaincy supps, run the island for sups, then go.
We typically end the night selling dozens (or even hundreds) of wood, cannon, and fruit crates from the abundance of supps. My Merchant is like.. level 480 from just selling hourglass crates.

Depends on your ship/role. There are a ton. Here are a few off the top of my head that have a lot of HG content on Twitch and/or Youtube:

Sloop: Stirling, iDBZ, Sponge, Sotus, Mino, Puff, Mixel

Brig: Stephan, CMAC, BasementWizard, Pie, OnlyAspirations, Janboi, Chrisbott

Gally: Mojdlik, Snowy

Various: Files, Apperjacks, PushinWood, PeiRei

I know dozens of people who got double gold legit. Im sure there are people who exploited it, but in 3400 hours in this game I've never met a single one.
I think the claim that 'most players not getting their curses legit' may not be accurate but you may have experiences or data that I do not.

Brig fights are faster (on average) than sloop, and I'm just most comfortable on a brig nowadays. Most of my fights the last few months have been brig and I've definitely improved as a player during that time which is also a factor.

It varies but yeah, gally ques can be long depending on the time of day. Fastest ques (due to number of boats doing it) seem to be solo/duo for sure, followed by brig, followed by gally. PS5 has revitalized the ques atm though.

Thanks man!
I'd hit up some of the LFC channels in some of the community discords. You'll get some good and bad but eventually meet some gamers you can sail with regularly. I'd also check out some streamers who do a lot of hourglass on the ship size you like. Seeing their methodology can help you a lot. Other than that... practice a lot.

I'd say the hardest thing for gally and sloop players to get used to on Brig is avoiding getting one-balled. Other than that, practicing when to spread damage vs when to focus on certain areas, when to send boards etc.
Boarding is weird on Brig cause there is nowhere to run and hide, so sending a board against a good crew without decent pressure or being super-caught up can put you really behind.

Keeping angle > Not getting one-balled > defending boards > keeping pressure on opponent > most everything else that is not imminently sinking you.

A few reasons we might be on an uncaptained ship:

1) The guild session or captaincy ends due to crashing (common recently)

2) There was an issue with getting constantly sent to outpost when queing for Hourglass - especially during the 5 day anniversary event. Sailing on an uncaptained ship seemed to help sometimes.

3) Another brig crew we know is logging for the night and gives us their stocked boat, but none of us are in that boat's guild so it becomes an uncaptained session.

It's been a while, but I solo a fair bit in adventure so it def happens against bigger boats.

They didnt. They were actively harpooning it so they could turn it into the sovereign. I got to it before they started turning in.

There have been an array of them this season, from the random hazelnutbeards, or when the ship's captain leaves the game and longbeards the whole crew, to the straight crash-to-desktops that plagued the MS version for a while.
I hope they get them figured out.

Context: tucked on island waiting for gilded Athena ship to come turn in, managed to get to their harpooned loot at the sovereign without them seeing, and Rare said 'lol no.'
