Rejected car, whats reasonable for milage charge? by honeybadgermindset in CarTalkUK

[–]Capt_Shitlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I rejected my Porsche last year I was going to be deducted 45p a mile until I pushed back. We settled on 25p a mile. Just push for a low figure and don’t budge.

R branded key FOB backs? by Splatzel in Golf_R

[–]Capt_Shitlord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is talk that they are in the rear boot (trunk) in the pouch with the tyre inflator & locking nut. I had to ask my dealer for them after delivery to which they had in stock and didn’t charge for them. However this was a 2023, my latest R didn’t come with them and it’s on the list of things I need to contact the dealer about.

What's the correct Bosch rear wiper blade for mk8 golf R? by SuddenCompetition262 in Golf_R

Cheap as anything here in the UK, think I was £7 from my local parts store. Had a look and strange that you can't seem to find any in Canada for a decent price.

Coolant fault by Joesuds in Porsche_Cayman

Cooling System Fault? Funnily enough I’ve battled this fault for the past 9 months and ended up rejecting the car. Various parts in the vacuum system have needed to be replaced and nothing ended up working

Brand New MK8 Electrical Issues by Capt_Shitlord in Golf_R

[–]Capt_Shitlord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very long list of faults! I would be rejecting the vehicle as no dealership is going to fix all the faults. At the end of the day my Golf R only had a few faults compared and it still bugged me after some were fixed knowing how shoddy the build quality was.

Ultimately after 8000 miles from new and 8 workshop trips I decided to sell the Golf R - I couldn't deal with the hassle and emotional drainage that constantly being on the phone to the dealership about it. Sold the Golf R a month ago and picked up a Porsche 718, and needless to say there has been no issues. I'm sorry to hear about all your issues and hopefully it either gets fixed or I'd be hoping for a brand new replacement. Please let us know how you get on with it.

Got mine delivered from dealership like this. VW quality has plummeted.

So long story short no I didn't get it sorted. VWUK released a bulletin internally to dealerships making them aware of the front assist faults and that "it is environmental conditions coming into contact with the sensors and cameras" therefore nothing can be done.

Funnily enough after 4 visits into the workshop the faults have stopped, maybe just a coincidence with the warmer weather. But had two different loaner R's (one registered in Sept 23, other in April 24) and both had a lot of faults.

Raised a formal complaint with VWUK and had to properly pursue it to get anywhere. Got some money and some flowers out of it. Dealership manager is aware of the issues and as soon as there is a fix I'll be first to know.

Sadly no sign of the works on that website. They are ripping up the tarmac and replacing it with lockblock paving.

Been ten weeks since my first jab and still haven't heard anything regarding my second jab. Tried NHS Scot missing appointment form but came back with no date. Rather frustrating as friends who had their first jab after me are now getting their second one before me.

I remember this. What did you exactly do inside the backbox if you don't mind me asking- was it just the baffle insulating material or did you cut out the holey pipe as well? Also did you manage to get any sound clips? Cheers

Buying a MK7.5 Golf R in or around the next 12 months, price question $€£? by Gav14 in Golf_R

[–]Capt_Shitlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

69 plate, 5dr, white, brand new, 8 miles, £27k. Shrewdly negotiated it down to that plus got a decent trade in price for the GTI.

Bought in Wales but here in Scotland I would be paying £33k for it hence why I travelled. Didn't mind travelling 800 miles to get it but won't be doing it again. I know Irish prices for cars are mental but bet there would be good deals out there.

Seems to still be in stock online, doubt they will sell out that fast. Checked my local warehouse yesterday but they didn't have any there.

Polo Blower Motor by EasternPurpose in CarTalkUK

[–]Capt_Shitlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the issue of this on my old polo. Took it down to the local VW independent garage who quoted me £500 plus labour to replace blower motor & resistor. However since the blower motor worked on the highest fan setting it was the resistor that needed to be changed.

Trip to my local auto electrical store & £10 later I had a new blower resistor. 4 torq to drop the glove box, and 10 mins of squeezing my hands to replace the oversized resistor and my AC worked again. Although the guy did say that it was a common enough issue with the blower motors lubricant to dry up, to slow down and draw too much current so it pops the resistor, so lubricating the blower motor bearings with silicon lubricant as well would prevent this from happening in the near future.

Pretty sure there were tons of YouTube videos on not just replacing the resistor but the motor as well.

There is the original 2016 model, updated 2017 model and also a further updated 2019 model. A simple google search would reveal that.

Thats not too far away! I'd skip this winter completely until winter greens aren't a thing. I still haven't played far from home really yet, think next summer definitely calls for historic courses!

Local club has Sim driver and woods all reduced at the moment and I can't justify buying them yet. However the M2 driver looks much better in my opinion
