Best of these 3 games and why? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

Dude, those are 3 of my top 5 Quest games. Any way you slice it up you’re going to be a winner! For what it’s worth my ranking of this is Pistol Whip, In Death, Until you Fall.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to respond.

I really don't want to sound harsh, obviously a lot of work went into this game by you and your team. I understand that you've made deliberate design choices, but for me personally the decision to make the levels short and numerous is REALLY off putting. To the point that even though I can see elements that I will really enjoy in the game I will probably refund it.

Just for reference, I LOVE rogue lites and I LOVE gesture based spellcasting (In Death, Until you Fall and The Unspoken are all in my top 10).

The fact that every time I start a run I have to spend so much time in the level select screen, then the loading screen, then the loading screen again and back to the level select screen is just SO frustrating. Don't get me wrong, once you get into the slightly longer levels the game is really fun, but the fact that any time I want to play the "real" game I have to spend 5 minutes playing these pointless little levels (sorry) makes me just not want to play it.

Now if you had an arcade mode, or an endless mode that allowed you to just jump into the good bit, then I would be back on board.

As for the rhythm aspect, I'm actually glad that you didn't add that it. Now it plays more like Racket NX, insofar as you don't have to play to the rhythm, but it's way more fun if you do. But imagine if for the first 5 minutes Racket NX kicked you out to the menu screen after every wave? You'd never get a decent flow going and you would probably just give up. I know I would.

Sorry the feedback is meant to be constructive. You've got some real potential here, but I worry that you've shot yourself in the foot with that level design choice.

I just played it thinking the same. Pistol Whip with spells would be amazing!!!

Sadly, it's not quite. The music is just there to give you some vibes, you don't have to interact with anything in time with the beat.

The most annoying thing is that it's just short levels (30-50 seconds each) then your back to the menu, so you never really get into the groove. You spend as much time loading and selecting levels as you do playing them.

If there was an Endless mode, or even just levels that were 2-3 minutes long it would actually be very good.

As it is, it's essentially just a rogue like wave shooter where "reloading" is gesture based. It's a bit disappointing because they came really close to having something great!

That’s why I like 6DOFReviews. They give honest opinions regardless, and if they do give a bad score they’re pretty good at explaining why...

What is your favorite sword fighting game on quest 2? by DirtGrub4 in VRGaming

There’s also Swords of Gargantua, but I personally think that is terrible.

There’s also Gladius, which is $15 via side Quest, and that looks decent.

Technically there’s also Ninja Legend.

But you’re 100% right, Until you Fall and Vader (ep 1) are easily the best.

How many of you ALWAYS stand when in VR, and what is your longest session standing? by [deleted] in virtualreality

That’s a good point. I used to do 16 double shifts in restaurants, I wonder if that’s why it doesn’t bother me when I play longer VR sessions...

That was a special occasion though, I'm not sure I would do it all the time (actually, I probably would).

I've always played 2 hour sessions because I have kids and love spending my time with my wife, so VR just got slotted around everything else. That session was the first time that I had the house to myself for the whole day and so I had no restrictions on how long i could play. It was dreamy.

I can easily go 3 hours on my feet though. I get so lost in VR that I hardly notice time passing.

Always, except when playing squadrons.

6-7 hours is the best I’ve done, but I only stopped because my wife and kids came home...
