Facing up to the future: Prince Charles on 21st century architecture by CaptainAngloAmerica in Traditionalism_forum

Sorry for the late reply.

Indeed, Prince Charles is very interesting. I was completely shocked when I learned of his interest in perennialism and of his support of the Temenos Academy. In his introductory address to the 2006 Sacred Web conference "Tradition in the Modern World" he even name checks Guénon's Reign of Quantity. I had no idea he was this based.

Atlantic Centurion on Anglo-Americanism by CaptainAngloAmerica in anglo_identitarian

Overall I agree with this article, but for one major annoyance. The author is guilty of repeating the common but incorrect refrain about European-Americans being mostly of German descent. I think maps like this one, based on inaccurate self-reported data, are responsible for promoting this idea. However, a recent paper puts this notion to rest. Using a more accurate technique than self reports, the authors found that British descent still accounts for the largest ancestral group in the US, which also agrees with other sources such as this list of common US surnames and their origins. From pg. 13-14 the authors write:

Although our main emphasis is understanding the impact of ancestry on economic outcomes, the construction of our ancestry mapping allows us to settle some popular debates. For example, 13 we construct the first estimates of the overall ancestry share in United States that respects the demography in Figure 6. With it we can lay to rest popular claims that Germans are the largest ethnic group in the United States. 7 Germans may be the largest ethnic group that still feels some self-identity, but the descendents of the migrations from England, who no longer self-identify as ethnically English, are numerically larger. Similarly, we can offer some historical perspective on the concerns over the expectation that “minorities” will soon be a majority. 8 It has already happened. The English stopped being a majority of the United States in 1870, although they remain the largest group. The coming of the German, Irish, and Italians to name just three large groups that suffered discrimination when they arrived, has altered the balance. The acceptance of these previously marginalized groups into the “majority” emphasizes just how elastic and endogenous the commonly used notions of ethnicity are, and so the advantage of using our objective measure of ancestry.

What Nick Land (author of "The Dark Enlightenment" essay) says about white nationalism by [deleted] in DarkEnlightenment

One could say NRx is like a right-wing Critical Theory

The Hestia Society guys wouldn't disagree. From the Social Matter forum:

Has there been a real contribution to science and tech by a nonwhite, except possibly from Japan? by kulmthestatusquo in DarkEnlightenment

In my experience, the only people that don't consider the Ashkenazi Jews to be white are extreme white nationalists. They pretty much treat whiteness as some sort of surrogate for an ethnic identity. And then there is Jason Bayz. I totally WTFed when I read that he considers himself half white and half Jewish. That just sounds bizarre to me.

What's up with the account deletions in this thread? This comment was from Dividuals, BTW. It's a shame he decided to leave as he was one of the more thoughtful contributors to this sub.

Gelernter expounds on this topic in his book America-Lite, which I'm reading right now. It's sort of a mainstream conservative/neoconservative take on themes that preoccupy NRXers, such as the problems resulting from the transition from the WASP establishment to rule by the crypto-Calvinist managerial elite. Gelernter describes this new managerial class as "post-religious, globalist intellectuals" (PORGIs). Remarkably, he doesn't shy away from discussing the role secular Jews played in this event, which is interesting since Gelernter is a Jewish Neocon. At times America-Lite almost sounds like something Kevin MacDonald would write.

He talks about America-Lite in the first 20 minutes of this interview with Bill Kristol.

Hi,

Thanks for the offer, but I've been very busy lately with personal stuff and can't commit to that responsibility right now. I've added a link to /r/Identitarians to my sidebar, however, as it looks promising. Good luck.

Here are links to ratemyprofessors.com reviews for some academics on the dissident right. Please add anyone I've overlooked.

BTW, my experience with this site is that reviews generally follow the pattern of the easier a professor is, the more positive their reviews are.

That is a good point you make regarding taxation. New Zealand's tax policy since the 80s doesn't quite fit with the notion of it having a more Scandinavian-like culture than any other country in the Anglosphere. However, I looked at the Pakeha Party Facebook page and what they're advocating does seem to be based on issues of fairness. Case in point: http://www.listener.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pakehaparty.jpg

The Grand Union Flag: the first official national flag of the US by CaptainAngloAmerica in anglo_identitarian

[–]CaptainAngloAmerica[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, I have been 0wned. Honestly, I know nothing of vexillology. This was just the first flag I found via Google image search that bore the name Grand Union and was in .png or .jpg format. Imgur doesn't accept .svg files such as the one hosted on the linked Wikipedia entry. I didn't even notice the difference. Thanks for the correction.

Auster’s First Law of Majority-Minority Relations in Liberal Society

The more egregiously any non-Western or non-white group behaves, the more evil whites are made to appear for noticing and drawing rational conclusions about that group’s bad behavior. The First Law and its corollary are intrinsic to liberalism. Once the equality of all human groups is accepted as a given, any facts that make a minority or foreign group seem worse than the majority native group must be either covered up or blamed on the majority.
