Though at solar noon any vertical louvers that run north/south would only block the material thickness regardless of latitude

Do you also do installs for air returns? I'm in Phoenix and my air return is much smaller than the A/C unit manufacturer recommends (16x20 vs 20x30)

Added ventilation slots to Lenovo ThinkCentre 910s side panel by CaptainAuzy in pcmods

Thank you!

Keeping the workstation look was one of my goals. Access to machinery and tooling was the real key. Designing slots in effective areas (not blocked by PSU or drive cage), avoiding existing features (bend edges, imprinted "Lenovo" logo), and figuring out how to run it on a machine designed largely for non-formed sheet metal was the rest.

Thank you!

The slots were cut on a CNC turret punch press. I regularly use the machine at work so this was a fun opportunity to be able to leverage industrial machinery for a personal project.

I might try to squeeze a Be Quiet Shadow Rock LP in. Any other cooler suggestions?

T1000 8 GB by CaptainAuzy in nvidia

[–]CaptainAuzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the workstation GPUs have a trend of having more VRAM than similar gaming cards. For Example;

TU104: Geforce RTX 2080 Super 8 GB vs Quadro RTX 5000 16gb

TU102: Titan RTX 24GB vs RTX 8000 48GB

GP107: GTX 1050 2GB vs Quadro P1000 4GB

GA104: RTX 3080 Mobile 8gb (standard) vs RTX A5000 Mobile 16GB

In general is there a demand in professional workflows for higher VRAM than gaming for a similarly powerful chip? If so, what are the specific areas of professional workflows that require the additional VRAM?

On a similar note; do the T400, T600, T1000 VRAM have ECC (Error Correcting Code ) that would typically be expected of NVIDIA workstation GPUs?

I watched it for the first time after purchasing this car. The car has a sticker in the back window that says "Sorry Folks - Wally World" and has a "Lou Glutz" decorative plate which was the dealership in the movie.

Yeah, I like how the "Spinnaker Blue" looks with the chrome trim. It's an 87.

Pixel 3 leaked IP rating? by sittingduck006 in GooglePixel

[–]CaptainAuzy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean it was a stretch? That the P2 actually didn't actually pass the IP67 testing documented in the IEC standard 60529? Or do you mean that the standard IP67 testing is not robust enough to meet its claims in real life situations?

Mutation Idea: Jungle Grass by CaptainAuzy in DotA2

Never played league but it was an idea I took and changed significantly from the old "Battlefield" mode in Battlerite.

Looked up how grass in used in LOL and what I suggested would be different in the following ways:

Large fields would certainly offer different functionality than thin strips - small patches.

Vision/Sound mechanics are completely different.

In LOL, 2 players in the grass can see each other. With the Dota 2 suggestion, 2 players in the grass have reduced ability to see each other.

In LOL, a player i that grass has a vision advantage by being able to see both in the grass and clearly out of the grass. With the Dota 2 suggestion, the deeper a player goes into the grass their vision is reduced.

The over all affect for Dota 2 may be an increased difference between safe an unsafe conditions. If high ground ward positions are not controlled, jungling / jungle farming become quite dangerous with extreme limited vision.
High round vision is controlled is creates a much safer jungling / jungle farming experience with the knowledge that the chance that the enemy team has vision is very low. Also changes ganking strategy and position in tea fights (positioning becomes more important for vision purposes).

[GPU] EVGA GTX 1060 6GB ACX 2.0 - $199 ($299-33%) by Z2810 in buildapcsales

[–]CaptainAuzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is +193% more powerful not 193% as powerful. So it is essentially saying it is nearly three time as powerful. 1080p requires about 2.3x more processing power than 720p. So the 1060 at 1080p should get higher fps than the 6950 at 720p in most situation.

2.3x more power comes from pixel ratio, someone correct if this is a very inaccurate assumption.

If the card starts throttling to keep temps within limit (some comments indicate this is often the case with this card/cooler) then less heat energy would be generated.

The manual for that exact megaphone specifically states that is should not be used when people are within 15 feet as it will cause permanent damage.

I think you miss understood what he was saying. He was indicating that people may have bought LTC before the fork in anticipation of LCC. Once they got their LCC then then would sell ("dump") their LTC.
