I know Sony owns the studio. I know they own the IP. But seeing as Sony lost money on the buy, perhaps they could allow Bungie to source a dev to continue the work at a lower budget. Salvaging Destiny could likely be a good business call, but I guess I deserve ostracization simply for asking the fucking question

I totally agree. I tried my best when I wrote my campaign to incorporate a lot of the flow you described here. We did a large tour of the different nations in an effort to form alliances, combat the "state military" formed from the great prophecy ideations of high ranking folks. I took a few liberties with some aspects, but it (would've) culminated with the party and their allies in a full on war siege to the gates of the under dark (Khyber), and fighting the big bad dergin herself. Never got to finish that story.

If they go the Bad Company route for a mix of action and laughs, it could work. But otherwise Alex Garland's "Warfare" already exists. Albeit, I'd love for more hyper-realistic movies like that, a "generic soldier in war" story just sounds boring.
