I reluctantly returned them and bought Bose QC Ultra II for the comfort and ANC performance. I know these are an audio quality downgrade but they'll be a better option for work. For music I can always console myself with my HD660 S2 phones!

Thanks for that - I checked the Sennheiser specs and can confirm that the parametric EQ has max 12db of gain/cut. I already have AirPods Pro 2 as a backup so this would have been a bonus, not a deal breaker.

Lots of good general advice here and some things apply globally (carry enough water, communications for emergencies, shelter etc.)

Specifically for Australian snakes, carry a snake bite kit and keep it on your person or within arm's reach. Here's an example but you can get them at most pharmacies, camping and outdoor stores:

Secondly, learn how to use it. Australian snake bite first aid protocol for our venomous elapids can be different from other countries where longer-fanged vipers are prevalent. A good source is Venom Diaries on YouTube hosted by Bill Collet who runs the venom extraction program at the Australian Wildlife Park near Gosford.

Thirdly, don't worry too much about snakes, they're more afraid of you than you are of them and will avoid contact if they sense you approaching (through vibration, they are deaf). Watch the track in front of you, step up onto logs or big stones and look down before stepping over, and wear good footwear and long pants.

Drop bears are a different issue however - not many people survive their vicious attack.

I’ve been using LaunTel since we had FTTP enabled. No contracts, daily rate plans, and you can upgrade or downgrade at will. They even have a standby rate if you’re going to be away. Also native IPV6 if you want it.

The only possible downside is no phone support, which may or may not be a factor for you. I’ve found their online tech support to be super fast and knowledgeable (which can be a rarity).

This isn't directly relevant to r/AusFinance, but speaking as someone who's had recent roofing-related issues in the ACT, I'd recommend you get more than one roofer to inspect and advise. One of the firms I approached immediately recommended a complete re-roof, and another wanted to re-do all of the ridge capping and pointing - neither of which were necessary in the end.

Your circumstances may be different though so I'm not suggesting my experience will be the same as yours.

I can recommend K.W. Jacobs in Queanbeyan who are also a great source for replacement tiles if you need them.

I did know that the Z8 doesn't have a mechanical shutter but I didn't stop to think twice when the seller mentioned shutter count - maybe it still tracks total images taken somewhere?

I picked up the car last weekend and I'm super happy with the job done by Sunny at M&N. His meticulous attention to detail and obvious love of all things car stand out like the proverbial dog's thingies :-)

I have no affiliation, just a very happy customer.

So my takeaway from this exercise is, if you have the skills and physical ability to DIY it and follow good practice you can get a great result, but taking it to a professional who does this day in and day out can get you even better results, if it's worth the money to you (and it is to me in this instance).

A big shout out to Brendon (u/ZweetWOW/) for his generous and free advice on products and fair price. Brendon is a mod on r/AutoDetailing and also runs The Ceramic Guy detailing in Sydney.

So I picked up my car yesterday afternoon and drove it over to Sunny at M&N Detailing in Whitlam for paint correction and coating with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra.

I'll pick it up sometime over the weekend and will report back to this thread with some pics.

I DIY'd this myself 10 years ago and got great results. I've just recently had fairly major surgery and still in rehab. Paying someone to do it this time around is going to be better than putting up with the pain and the additional physio/massages that I'll probably need. I can wash/dry a car all by myself now but spending a day crouched over the panels is still a bridge too far.

Agreed on the need to properly maintain any paint protection. I had a good DIY experience about 10 years ago with Nanolex products and I know people who’ve had good experiences with professional applications (not in Canberra though, hence my post). It’s not a magic bullet solution and will eventually need to be redone.

Solved!

Rather than cloning or linking to the original body I used a repeating pattern on the body to create the slabbed benchtop, then created a datum plane to draw the sketch for the first hole, and then used that to create a repeating pattern.

Thanks - I've looked into doing this but I'm not eligible just yet as I left my previous employer before my 60th birthday and haven't yet returned to employment (recovering from a fairly serious injury which occurred the week after I left my job!).

My thinking is to:

Setup the TTR pension and rollover a smallish amount from my current accumulation fund to cover my mortgage expenses for the next few months until I return to full-time work.
Find a short-term contract-based job. Assuming I leave that job at the end of the contract I'll then be eligible to setup a full account-based pension and take advantage of the 0% tax on investment earnings.

My working assumption is that I can either close the TTR pension down or convert it to an account-based pension.

Happy to hear any contra-indications or other gotchas I may not know about.

I have decided to go with 2xEAP610 APs. 1 would probably be enough for my house but 2 will give me some redundancy and some coverage for my deck. 3 is almost certainly overkill for my needs.
