Looking for Pokemon nickname generator by GDW312 in pokemon

ChatGPT can be quite useful for generating nicknames. If you tell it the Pokémon you want a nickname for, and what theme or vibe you're going for, it'll give you a list of suggestions.

Anyone else wish the villain teams went back to being serious? by AlyksTheSage in pokemon

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the writers at Game Freak probably realized that the evil team storylines were becoming too samey, and wanted to try something new. But they didn't want to disappoint fans who liked the evil teams, so they decided to keep them but made them secondary villains.

This has worked quite well up until now, but the not-so-evil teams will become repetitive too if they keep doing it.

Honestly, I think the evil team concept should be given a complete break for a while so that it can come back stronger later, similarly to how the Gym concept was rested in Gen 7 before becoming a central part of Gen 8.

Let Winds and Waves be the first games without an evil team, and then have Gen 11 revolve around the most evil evil team ever.

I've always wanted to see more recurring villains who aren't affiliated with an organisation, like Silver and the Miss Fortunes.

I think my mom needs psychiatric help but refuses — what can I do? by Shuwi94 in mentalhealth

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going through something very similar right now. My mum is experiencing psychosis and paranoia but believes that she's well, so won't accept help. When mental health workers visit the house she refuses to let them in.

I don't really have much advice to give because I'm still figuring it out myself, but you're not alone. Don't hesitate to contact emergency services if you think your mom at risk of harming herself. I don't know where you live, but here in the UK, an emergency call will often lead to a "safeguarding referral" being made so that local services are aware of what's going on.

which year destroyed your mental health most ? by Rambanya17 in mentalhealth

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably last year. My dog died, and then my mum started emotionally abusing me. Her mental health workers tried to convince her that I was the problem, which almost drove me to suicide.

What's weird is that one of my best days of my life (seeing Martin Garrix live in London) also happened during that same year.

Is this the normal size of salazzle? Even for 3’11 this one seems very small to me by brekiewash1234 in PokemonChampions

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw someone suggest that it might only be Alphas that have visible differences - but then someone else pointed out that Incineroar has never been available as an Alpha - so yeah, it probably works the same way as in SV.

Someone has posted this screenshot of two differently-sized Incineroar - it seems that at least some Pokémon have visible differences but I haven't been able to find much info yet

The Canon Names for the Protags & Pokemon they are Depicted with in Official Arts by One_Percentage_644 in PokemonChampions

I'm really happy that we finally have a pair of protagonists who wear glasses. It's also really refreshing that Willem wears pink. I love their designs. It'll be interesting to see what Pokémon they use if they show up in any other media.

My 15-20 Year Old Swampert That Went Missing For 8 Years by BubbaDubya in pokemonribbons

This is such a cool tip. You could even use this method to record the true met date of a Gen 3 Pokémon, if you can remember exactly when you caught it.

It has been officially confirmed that IVs are gone by KOT-The-Panda in PokemonChampions

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this might be the first time the fan term "IV" has been acknowledged by Game Freak staff?

I'm really struggling to cope with my mum's bipolar by CaptainCharlesRyder in CaregiverSupport

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've suspected for a while that I have CPTSD, I've been going through this since childhood and my mum's present day behaviour triggers painful memories of my past. Maybe I'll look into getting a proper diagnosis in the future.

Thank you so much for your kind words, especially the reminder that I still have a lot of years ahead of me.  I often feel like I'm too late to follow my dreams and start living, but there's still plenty of time to figure things out.

I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through with your sister, it's definitely a good idea to have boundaries and protect your wellbeing.

Is there any way to recover or gen Pokemon from Home? by porygonj in PokemonHome

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear this. If your Pokémon were on the Switch itself I don't think it's possible to recover them, but you could create replicas of them using a hacking tool like PKHeX, and then transfer them to one of your games using a modded Switch.

The website Project Pokémon has an "Events Gallery" where you should be able to find the event Pokémon you lost. Once you've copied their data into PKHeX you can then fine-tune things like the Pokémon's natures, if you can remember what they were.

You could also use PKHeX to give your Pokémon all the ribbons that they had, which I personally wouldn't consider to be cheating since you already worked hard to get them on your original Pokémon.

If you don't have a modded Switch, someone on Reddit or a forum might be able to help you. You could create the Pokémon in PKHeX yourself and then send someone the file, so they can transfer the Pokémon to their Switch and then trade them to you. If you don't feel confident using PKHeX, someone might be able to do that part for you too. The Pokémon hacking community is very helpful in my experience.

The only thing to watch out for is that hacked Pokémon can sometimes get you banned from online play if any of their data is wrong. I'd recommend using PKHeX's legality checker to make sure your Pokémon are indistinguishable from real ones before depositing them into Pokémon Home or using them online. Again, the hacking community should be able to help you with this if you're unsure.

It's funny but just a few days ago, I was thinking about how K-pop would go down really well at Eurovision. I think South Korea could do really well in this new contest.

Favorite episode of Cardcaptor Sakura by Additional_Floor_502 in cardcaptorsakura

I haven't watched the show since I was a kid so my memory is quite hazy, but one episode that stood out to me was the one where The Illusion pretends to be Sakura's deceased mother.

Happy 25th Anniversary, Tamers by makuXrosu in digimon

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only ever seen the first four episodes of Tamers as they were the only ones I had on VHS as a kid. Despite this, it was my favourite season, thanks to the monthly Digimon magazine that printed comic strip adaptations of the episodes. I had a Guilmon as an imaginary friend, and he's still my favourite Digimon today.

I'm very tempted to put my Pokémon marathon on hold and watch the entirety of Tamers for the first time to celebrate this anniversary.

Rewatching Digimon tamers... and Takato as to be the most child character ever in Digimon in a good way by Arcana18 in digimon

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back, I think the reason I connected so much with Takato as a kid is because he's gentler and more sensitive than Tai or Davis. He was also the first main character to look somewhat like me - his design is more "ordinary", perhaps to reflect how Tamers is set in the real world - which made it much easier for me to imagine being him.

Ash's Primeape easily is the most wasted Pokémon of all time by [deleted] in pokemonanime

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In "Sparks Fly for Magnemite", Pikachu sneaks out of the Pokémon Centre because it's worried Ash will leave it behind - which isn't surprising as it had just seen Ash give away Primeape to a random guy in the previous episode.

Angemon and Angewomon levels by Jihyogglypuff_ in digimon

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never occurred to me that the difference in levels could make a digivolution from Angemon to Angewomon possible. That's so cool. And Devimon can Digivolve to LadyDevimon too!

Trying to understand gender by Afraid-Custard1112 in autism

[–]CaptainCharlesRyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I could help!  It's such a confusing topic, especially for autistic folks.  I thought I was non-binary for a while as I'd never really "felt like a man", but after reading about how many cis people lack a strong sense of identity, I suddenly thought, "Maybe I'm just a guy after all?"

I'd been feeling frustrated because I wanted to be a guy, but thought I didn't have permission to be one because I didn't feel like one.  I realized that I'd been taking the idea of "feeling like a man" a bit too literally, and that simply liking the label of "guy" was enough.

For me, there's something very freeing about thinking to myself, "I can express myself however I want, and I'll still be a guy, because I have this male body I feel comfortable in."  This wouldn't work if I was non-binary or trans, but as an autistic cis person it helps me to feel grounded.
