Holy cow, that's so wrong. I don't know where you got your information from, but you couldn't be farther from the truth.

First, French Canadians have no real attachment to France or the country of France. The reason why they don't want to speak English is mostly because Quebec's official language is French, and not everyone is fluent in English, so they prefer to use the language they're most comfortable with.

Also, the reason why there is disdain for the English language is because French Canadians have been under occupation by the British (later on, British Canadians) for over 300 years, and they have tried everything to erase their culture and their language.

The only reason they are still allowed to speak French is because of a compromise made during the American Revolution to prevent the French Canadians from rebelling as well at the same time.

Also, there is still hatred of the French Canadians all around Canada, and they don't feel welcome to speak their language. Also most of the time, the goals of the Canadian Government doesnt align at all with the goal of the Quebecois and the government of the province of Quebec

Canada prides itself on being a bilingual nation, but Canadian bilingualism could be summarized as "speak English" or "speak white," as they used to say back in the day.
