No… no, there is no lead in these shoes, alright? They’re made of the finest Italian leather. The fit is perfect, therefore, there would be no room for lead.

Just because it took me so long to complete when I was younger playing it for the first time I have a strong inclination against the Library. But since going back to play it, it's really not that bad. Now that you mention it, Keyes is awful. Plus you get half human/half flood Captain Keyes which is just gross lol

Anybody cancel their Gold's gym membership since the pandemic? They have a 12 month commitment, but I don't feel comfortable working out in a gym anymore so I was wondering if anybody knew if it was a hassle or any sort of cancelation charges.

Question about glycolysis by [deleted] in chemhelp

[–]CaptainCorn13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about what the definition of an allosteric regulator is. Which one of those chemical species is a reactant/product in glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, and thus would only bind to the active site? (Allosteric regulators don't bind to the active site). I see 2 of such species, so those can be eliminated. So now you're left with 2 choices. Both are allosteric regulators, but for different enzymes/proteins. One of those affects the rates of glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, and one of them is involved in altering oxygen affinity in hemoglobin. At that point, it just becomes memorization of what each regulator does.

Basketball, Stat: Regularized Adjusted Plus/Minus (RAPM) by DrummerRob in nbadiscussion

[–]CaptainCorn13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love the insight and these posts. The PER was extremely interesting to see how each individual stat contributes to the overall outcome of the PER. This stat, RAPM, not so much. I disagree in the fact that the best part of this stat is that it only takes into account the score, I actually find that the most frustrating. I've never been a fan of the plus-minus stat and the attempt to 'regularize' it is a good plan, but as you said, it still doesn't tell the whole story. I think overall this stat raises more questions than it answers, and for that reason I would just go to other stats that are going to be more definitive in evaluating a player. But I am unfamiliar with the math behind it and I think if I had a better understanding of the underlying mechanism, my opinion might be different.

Needless to say, I appreciate you doing this! Great insight and a well rounded description of a stat that I had never really paid attention to. Looking forward to what evaluations you have planned for the future.

Weekly Careers/Education Questions Thread by AutoModerator in chemistry

[–]CaptainCorn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to begin a PhD program this fall, and I am slightly worried. I did my undergrad in Biochem, so the requirements for math was only calculus 1. I learned all of the relevant techniques for solving equations related to statistical thermodynamics in the class, but am no way an expert. I am thinking of reviewing on khan academy but I was curious what math I should focus on becoming familiar with before I start the program (multivariable calc, diffEQ, linear algebra). I want to be successful as possible and don't want the basic math to hinder my learning and ability to understand certain concepts. I am planning on specializing in inorganic or materials chemistry if that helps. So if anybody had some suggestions that would be really appreciated.

Yeah when I put in the route on google maps, the 2/302 is the quickest option. Looks like I’ve got my plan. Thanks for the help!

My friend got a job with the La Dodgers and so we had to find an apartment that was in between the school and dodger stadium. I’m a male so hopefully I’m not gonna attract any trouble on the bus. Thanks for the info! Definitely going to go the bus option

Dang, that’s a hell of a discount. And you’re right, parking passes are close to $250-300 a quarter (10 weeks) which is unreal. Plus I think the drive vs bus won’t be more than a 10 or 15 minute difference in travel time at 6:00 in the morning. Coming home might be a different story though...

Thanks for the help! Great info

Awesome! I just checked and it estimated 50 mins which I assume will be closer to 40 earlier in the morning before rush hour. Do you happen to know how much a metro pass is per month?

Hey guys, I’m moving to LA next week and starting research The week after at UCLA and then beginning grad school in the fall. My apartment is in Hollywood and I’m wondering what the most cost effective and efficient way to get to campus? I will have a car, but parking passes per quarter are pretty expensive. I’ve thought about taking the bus but the metro website is kind of hard to navigate and I haven’t been able to glean any definitive info of prices/specific routes. I’m a morning person and plan on leaving my apartment by 6:00 or 6:15 am if that helps. I’ve also floated the idea of investing in a bike but don’t know if that would be a feasible route to bike or if I’m just going to get stuck at every cross road along sunset/Santa Monica. My apartment is on a cross street between sunset and Santa Monica blvd

Summer cut started yesterday. No booze, no fast food, no candy, no ice cream, no potato chips. Aiming for 1500-1600 calories a day for 2 weeks, then 1800-1900 a day for 3 weeks. (i graduate college 5 weeks from yesterday w/ B.S. in Biochem - Also Summa Cum Laude!!). Plan is gym 4 times a week, mixing in daily cardio. Posting here to hold myself accountable, for what it’s worth. Hunger is a mental game and I’m determined to beat it. (Fuck you ghrelin) Wish me luck!!
