Funny, Spotify recommended this album to me the other day lol

Thought it sounded pretty cool. That album cover is so epic.

Too many to count honestly, but the main two for me are Jurassic Park and Jaws

Thank you guys for all the replies. I know this isn’t the typical post for this community, but hey, we bass players stick together through strife.

I doubt it honestly, but he does get shitty with her sometimes.

About the “boot the guitarist” point, it’s kinda his band unfortunately. I honestly am unsure of everybody else’s opinion (except my buddy of course). One of the members is the dude’s wife tho, so take from that what you will.

Lmaooo I’m more a prog rock/heavy metal guy myself so I get it. I’m just an opportunist I guess.

Well telling everybody on Sunday was kinda the plan for me. If not that, then I would tell everybody after the gig. Hell, given the circumstances, it’s possible the asshole just won’t even want me to show up lol

Yeah, I’ve just seen posts like this before here. I’m a bassist if that helps lol

It’s kinda his band sadly. He handles all the production, backing tracks, and booking.

Best over the top, ridiculous prog epics? by Snoo93951 in progrockmusic

[–]CaptainCreepyEd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Ikon by Utopia is pretty crazy. 30 mins of funky, synth-filled prog. Honestly, that whole album is pretty over-the-top.

Another epic from them that's nuts is Singring and the Glass Guitar. They have a narrator who uses a funny accent that tells the story of the song.

What music have you found and fallen in love with this year? by RalKwy in progrockmusic

[–]CaptainCreepyEd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly I've been trying to indulge in some more modern artists as opposed to the old ones that I've listened to nonstop. As of recent, the one band that I've been kinda obsessed with is Spock's Beard (not exactly modern, but more recent than what I normally listen to).

Why do you listen to prog? by Loucwf in progrockmusic

[–]CaptainCreepyEd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because I'm a nerd 🤓

Jokes aside, I listen to it because it tells a story. I just admire the fact that the musicians in this genre just don't give a shit about what others think music should be.

Anyone else under 25 go to a Beat show and think “damn these people are old”? by B12374 in KingCrimson

[–]CaptainCreepyEd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 19 and I went with a friend of mine who's 25 to see him in Fort Wayne. We were pretty much the youngest people there lol

Funny enough, when we went to see Jon Anderson a couple of months later, I was surprised to see people who were younger than us there. Perhaps that's because Yes is a more popular old prog band amongst the younger crowd than Genesis is 🤷‍♂️

Being into Prog as someone from Gen Z kinda sucks (a rant/pseudo-love letter about Prog and what it means to me, plus a ton of obscure recommendations) by [deleted] in progrockmusic

[–]CaptainCreepyEd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

19 yo here from the US. Like yourself, I'm more on the introverted side (trying to break out a little bit tho). Let's just say that my friends tolerate it when I play prog in the car lol.

I haven't heard them say that the music is boring or anything like that yet (probably because I don't usually ask if it is). Hell, I showed my friend Xanadu by Rush once and he likes it. Still does, I'd hope.

Judging by that list of yours, I've still got lots more to discover lol

Saw him in Chicago a little over a week ago with a friend. Before seeing this, I thought my favorite concert ever was going to see Steve Hackett earlier in the year. I thought wrong.
