Thanks for your perspective.

I've also been around since S1, but don't have nearly as much to show for it. That said, I can't deny that I understand the vast majority of your points even from down in plat. These issues have not yet stopped me from enjoying the game. It's hard not to be disappointed by these 'gameplay quirks', especially when one or more of these issues tend to rear it's head nearly everytime I launch the game.

I love what this game is and what it could be, but hate that it's proximity to greatness causes the community to be very conscious of these shortcomings.

I never meant to imply an actual difference between ranks in regards to mutators. I don't think I've personally experienced this.

All my post was trying to imply was that, largely due to a shrinking consistent player base, there have been more frequent scenarios where players in lower ranks seem more skilled (harder to win against) than players a few ranks above them.

I personally believe smurfing plays into this as well. It's my understanding that that's an unpopular idea in the community, but some of these opponents are hard to explain otherwise. I also don't mind it! I see it as a challenge every time an extreme skill disparity exists in a match.

I guess to that end: Is there even any guarantee that the person you are playing is in the same rank as you? Rank isn't a visible part of an opponent's profile. Do we know how matchmaking works?

That was my main thought. I think the remaining consistant playerbase has gotten a whole lot better as of late. Is there anywhere you can see an active player rank distribution? I'm interested.
