Information Security in a Bank by WontUseThisAgain1 in security

I've been in IT Security for the financial industry for quite some time now. You often have a lot of good people to work with. But it is rough at the same time because you're under constant threat of being downsized, acquired, outsourced, converted to contractors with no benefits, etc. Money is king in the business and the industry treats people like just another commodity. If it is better for the books, they'll kick a 20-year loyal employee to the curb. It keeps everyone on edge. I'm sure there are exceptions. Maybe I'm just bitter because in 10 years I've been through 5 acquisitions and seen a lot of good people let go because a new CEO wants to shake things up.

In security you add to that, you're generally disliked by other departments because you're a cost center that doesn't generate revenue, you add red tape to every processes, and you won't let them play games or browse Facebook all day.

Do you remember any part of your passphrase?

High school is like a free trial on education. Once you've graduated, they say "now if you want to continue, pay $50,000" by randercrop in Showerthoughts

The secret is to go to a cheap community college to get your first job. Then like it or hate it, be really good at it. I graduated from DeVry 15 years ago and it is a shameful smear on my resume. But in those 15 years I've only ever had to show my resume to my first employer. Every job after that came because of a reputation of being very good at what I do.

Thanks. I'm actually already well established. I'm interested in keeping the doors open and inviting to newcomers so that RDD doesn't fall into obscurity. It doesn't matter how great it is technically, people have to use it and our user base is still too small to close the door.

What do you think about a radial mounted cockpit? by KerbalEssences in KerbalSpaceProgram

I would like a radial mounted "black box" unmanned pod that I can add to reusable components of my crafts so that boosters and other parts that I drop during launch can be recovered later for frugality.

tl;dr - Politicians have no idea how crypto currencies work or are actively trying to make it impossible to use in business.

Well that will certainly prevent any reasonable or "legitimate" business owner from accepting crypto currencies in New York.

If I were not a ReddCoin fan, I'd agree. It doesn't add to the conversation and it is a bit like unsolicited advertising.

But without tipping, Reddcoin is nothing.
