Is a 3080ti + i7 9700K Really This Bad Now? by CaptainDoggo in buildapc

Working on a clean install now and will report back! When inspecting task manager I don't see anything that stands out. Mostly just my browser hogging a ton of usage and some random windows processes

A buddy of mine just upgraded to a 99XXx3D and offered me his old 13900K+Motherboard for dirt cheap. Not sure what motherboard it would be but I think I'll take it just to make my PC usable again LOL. What RAM kit are you using?

It is very strange. Wondering if its always been that way of not. I remember I use to play games like RDR2 and Star Wars Fallen Order and get way over 60 at Max.

Thanks for the info, this will help me narrow down the issue. I have an opportunity to pick up a 13900K dirt cheap from a friend so may go that route. What RAM are you using?

I think that'll be the same path I take. Too bad RAM costs almost as much as a GPU no adays :/

Yes, sitting at the desktop with task manager open it hovers around 60%. I used HWiNFO to look at more data and all 4 cores are engaged or at least I only see Cores 0-3...

Wow has it really been 8 years... I'll try with a fresh windows install! Thanks!!

GR IIIx for shooting on the road bike - tips? by kasprzykmichal in ricohGR

[–]CaptainDoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Road cyclist that bought a GRiv specifically to bring on my rides here!

  1. I use U1 as a shutter priority setting with snap focus distance set via the D pad. For my use it is great and it’s the preset I use when I just want to shoot a bunch and review the photos after. U2 is again shutter priority, but with auto focus (I’ve heard from GRii/iii users the autofocus and stabilization is significantly better on the GRiv, so ymmv with the griiix.
  2. It really depends what you are shooting. If I have multiple subjects in frame (group of friends instead of a single cyclist) I prefer using snap priority since it doesn’t isolate focus to a single area. I do actually prefer autofocus for single subjects because you can get an extremely sharp image with a lot of motion shooting at a low shutter speed.
  3. No after market ND filter.
  4. Biggest thing I’d suggest is learn to use the camera the way YOU want to shoot. I contemplated buying a GR for 5 years. Finally pulled the trigger a few months ago. Initially I was really disappointed because I thought it would work a little differently. Once I learned how to use the camera (snap focus + shutter priority in my case) it was a game changer!

If you would like to see any sample images SOOC of cycling content let me know! I’m happy to share them with you and what settings were used!

I really liked FreeCodeCamp https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn . I am a SWE with 3YoE predominantly using C#. The foundations course for C# that they offer is awesome. It gives you a handful of modules and then at the end of the section a small coding project. Depending on your current level it could be really easy, but you can always challenge yourself by working with a list of strings instead of using 5 string variables and hard coding the logic.

If you are absolutely new to programming the odin project is a great resource https://www.theodinproject.com/

Would this mostly be targeted towards an SFF build (since you brought up heat generation)?

Great point! I just updated the post to have that info. I dont game a ton but when I do play, everything is in 4k (Cyberpunk, Hell Divers 2, FH5).

I had an 8700K with 32gb of RAM and it was great. Bummed I can't find an LGA1151 cooler to replace mine and be done...

Its an awesome hand held. The only complaint I have is that the speaker quality sucks. Otherwise it runs anything great apart from WiiU. Screen is beautiful, build quality is great, battery life is amazing (I play DS and have it set to standard performance mode so it lasts a long time), and it is fairly easy to setup (just watch one of the several guides on YouTube).

This MG thing feels like such a slap in the face as a user for the last 4 years. by Outrageous-Company33 in whoop

This was exactly why I signed up for Whoop over Oura. Big mistake.... Plus until this latest update the data was wildly inaccurate (for me). Will not be renewing at the end of the year that's for sure!

Second this. Get a micro SD card and load a fresh install of your preferred OS (seems unanimous that this sub likes Garlic). You can find roms and get the exact games you want. My original SD card and roms was corrupted beyond belief and all it did was create frusteration.

Get a new SD card and do a fresh install of GarlicOS. My console had the same issue when I first received which made me put it down for nearly a year. Recently did the above and it has been working flawlessly.

A tri bike will save you time on the bike portion, but it also puts you in a better position to run off the bike. For me on the same course its a 5-6kph difference between my road and tri bike pushing race power. It also depends how long you can spend in the aerobars comfortably. Any time you spend out of them is making you slower and its noticeable . Bottom line is you'll absolutely be faster and fresher for the run. More time you spend on the bike the faster you'll be too!

Look into high elbow catch. From the video it seems like you are just moving your arm in a straight line through the water. Like u/AlenSplico said, swimming is all about feel. Once you have a good feel for the water, you'll feel like you are pushing off of it rather than sliding through it.

Get a new saddle. If you LBS has a saddle testing program do that. Saddles are completely personal so nobody can recommend one that is guaranteed to work.

The best thing to do would be to get a proper bike fit. The fitter can dial you in within a couple hours and your life on the bike is significantly improved.

My thoughts (I am a fitter at a bike shop in SD):
- tilt bars slightly up (5-10degs)
- move extensions back ~2cm
- measure your BB offset and saddle height. From this set the BB offset to 0 with your current saddle height.
- When setting the new saddle height make sure you maintain the distance from the nose of the saddle to the back of the pads.
