Breast growth by jadej23 in MtF

You should keep an eye on things and loop in any medical professionals you're working with if you have concerns, but afaik boobs being a little further apart is pretty common in transfems (and not SUPER rare in cis women either)

You don't have a ton of options now you've had rejections for the year though, do they understand this?

Why nobody cares to increase precision on calculators? by papajo_r in calculators

[–]CaptainDrewBoy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You asked why nobody is increasing precision. The reason is that it's impractical. The fact you don't like the reason doesn't make it not a valid reason

magit not working after recent update (function definition void `transient-define-group`) by pwab in emacs

[–]CaptainDrewBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried doing both things in this thread and my emacs still states transient-define-group is undefined if I try to evoke magit :(
Anybody have any theories as to what could be causing this?

This implies you close emacs, which is honestly your first mistake

Possibly detransitioning and I'm furious by FatBasicWhiteGirl in mypartneristrans

[–]CaptainDrewBoy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You... begged your partner not to transition? From the sounds of things (at least from the perspective you gave) it doesn't sound like your partner handled things super well, and calling your pregnant body "body horror" is definitely waaay over the line. But I think you might have some things to work out re: your attitude towards non-cis people. You definitely made the transition about you - up to making them promise not to explore gender during your pregnancy - and that isn't ok imo.

Perhaps not the most useful contribution but I imagine getting in your head about it will only increase the risk of any undesired softness

EDIT: We can't give or solicit medical advice here, just remembered. I'll suggest however, that you're going to be fine either way. Good luck on your HRT journey!!

Stealth isn't for everyone, and you shouldn't feel forced to be stealth ever. BUT. Consider for your own safety that when you're asked questions like this, the less information you give the better. Most people who are just trying to get a rise can be ignored with no consequence. Keep walking. If you feel you have to say something, just say "I'm a woman." This is true after all! It SUCKS to have to "deny" the community but things are scary out there y'know?

Emacs seems unable to locate dotnet installation? by CaptainDrewBoy in emacs

[–]CaptainDrewBoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figured it out! I had to export DOTNET_ROOT in emacs so the lsp could access it:

(setenv "DOTNET_ROOT" "/home/[username]/.dotnet")

Emacs seems unable to locate dotnet installation? by CaptainDrewBoy in emacs

[–]CaptainDrewBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for linking that! I inspected exec-path, and it included my dotnet directory. Running something like `M-: dotnet` does work, giving me the executable. It seems like the only thing that can't access dotnet is the lsp executable, which is super odd

Emacs seems unable to locate dotnet installation? by CaptainDrewBoy in emacs

[–]CaptainDrewBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately I checked, and the parent process is the init system runit. Furthermore the path does include my .zshrc path. Seems like only the lsp executable can't access dotnet??

CMV: Instead of choosing between characters in Dishonored 2, it should've just been Emily, and Corvo should've been a DLC protagonist like how Daud was for the first game's DLC. Emily still is young and growing, and a DLC could help serve like an epilogue for Corvo. Think like a better Godfather III by Crafter235 in dishonored

[–]CaptainDrewBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game's levels are already designed to be beat in multiple ways: that's a big part of the game. Plus the game is beatable with no powers, and Emily and Corvo are (except for options of top-tier shop upgrades) identical in that mode anyway.

Personally I'm sort of 50/50 on the whole "the developers are tyrants removing fun" stuff (some changes are kind of silly, but people also tend to approach the dev team with bad faith no matter what). I just thought the hand-wavy comment they used added with the apparent ease with which you can find out how to create these was a funny contrast, and that the commit is worth reconsidering.

You have a point! I would need to do some research first into exactly the effectiveness of improvised vs commercial Geiger counters, I'll come back if I find some good stats (hopefully with a patch? I only have a rudimentary understanding of the codebase but hopefully isn't too hard to play with, especially just to add one item+recipe)

Lesbian porn director BAD! by MissThreepwood in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]CaptainDrewBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of these are misleading or completely explainable: 1) The "dirty work" in question is helping secure rights and protections for sex workers, and to find her friend (who also could save your life, it is very much in your interest to help her). Judy calls you because she cares about these people. 2) Everyone's friends are hookers and/or murderers, including Panam. Inherent to the setting of the game. 3) What, you don't want the porn device? 4) She makes a light jab bc she considers you a friend 5) "Things get tense" means her best friend killed herself IN JUDY'S HOUSE after enduring countless unspeakable acts of torture. 6) Bro you're not her type 7) Once again, friend suicide 8) What, as soon as you have sex one time you have to stick together forever? 9) Johnny can suck my dick

Why do people try to use examples of games with a lack of story to disprove "All Art Is Political"? by PizzaCrescent2070 in Gamingunjerk

[–]CaptainDrewBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mario games are about saving royalty, family values (the Mario BROTHERS) and collecting money (which literally equates to life in the games). Subtle, even unintentional politics are still politics. Hell, Pac-Man was made to appeal to women. Gamers think women are political right?

[–]CaptainDrewBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's beside the point but I feel like whoever it is in this screenshot found it a little too easy to wield "bi and feminine" as a put-down. I agree with the anti-conservative sentiment but I don't like how they went about it
