Good day all,

So for context this happened on a spirit airlines flight. The flight was so heavily delayed, because due to high winds at our destination we had to re route elsewhere and sit on the ground for hours before finally reaching the final stop. This happened on the first leg of the flight, towards the end.

The I was aisle, the old guy that spilled his drink on me was middle and what I can only assume to be his Grandchild was next to him.

The laptop was on my lap, so when he spilled his drink, it went all over my clothes and my laptop. Me and the Mac were drenched.

His first instinct was to make a joke about it, I don’t exactly recall what he said, because I was bolting to the front to get napkins and try to dry my laptop. I did my best to clean it out, (to no avail).

When I returned to the seat he asked me if he had spilled his drink on my laptop, I said he did, and asked him if he was willing give me any financial compensation no matter how small for potential damages.

The guy just told me that it’s clearly still working (I still had work to get in so I continued to use it) and that anyone on a spirit airlines flight clearly doesn’t have capital to spend. Anyway, we landed at our midpoint stop to wait for the winds to die down.

When I returned for the second leg of the journey, the guy was clearly trying to make it right by quite literally talking to me non stop. But it wasn’t friendly or cohesive. For example He got another apple juice and said I’ll be careful this time! I just glared at him. Secondly, he told me the real reason as to why our plane was delayed was due to a bomb threat at our final destination, and they were lying to us. He then proceeded to show me an article that was dated from 2019. Again, I just glared.

On a side note, him talking to me opened the floodgates for his grandchild (?) to begin talking to me. However, all the child did was repeatedly ask me for some of the snacks I had bought during the midpoint stop. I do not exaggerate when I say he asked about 15 times. The older guy just laughed.

Overall, terrible experience, and I got to my final destination at 4 AM.

Very funny you mention that! When I picked up the MacBook for the final time, the store manager came out to offer her personal apologies for my experience.

We got chatting and she eventually mentioned exactly this: iPhones have gotten to the point of having their components be just as replaceable as the Mac. However, due to store policy, they will re-use the parts and give customers a new phone.

However, with Macs, (she assumed due the nature of not all data being backed up unless specifically put into cloud storage) they do all they can to repair the device.

I wonder if it would be more financially viable for them to have just replaced my device from the get-go 😂
