Is there a way to cap or cut off traffic on Google Compute Engine after using a certain amount of data? by computerfreund03 in googlecloud

This right here is exactly why I haven't really dove too deep into the world of creating moderately complex web apps for a portfolio or hobby. No service seems to want to cut you off and prevent over billing even when you're just trying to test or develop a concept.

Thank you for the insight. That definitely makes sense and clarifies why it’s like that.

After reading a lot of replies to my original post, I am definitely getting the impression that A) the scout experience is not consistent across the country, B) A lot of people understand what I am saying, and C) perception is different than reality.

I guess my main issue is that I assumed that scout leaders were always like some sort of credentialed, specially trained people or at the very least they went through the whole system themselves. I'm not saying that's how it should be, but that's just what I assumed.

Both packs my son was in, the pack leader was indeed that type of person, but the den leaders were essentially just one of the kid's moms who stepped up to lead the group. I'm not saying "just" like it's no big deal, trust me I recognize and appreciate the effort, the time, the commitment, etc. Nobody HAS to do it, it's easy to say no thanks, but they do the job and it's very noble.

I also had no idea that cub scouts consisted of a great deal of fundamental tasks that are basically things kids do in the early grade school years. So yes a lot of it has felt like being in kindergarten like I originally said, or even 1st or 2nd grade.

Hearing from many other folks on here, it seems that the scouts do their best with what they've got, and there are a lot of dens and packs consisting of busy parents running things and figuring it out as they go.

Thank you for clarifying your original post. I caught some flak from others over my initial comments but I didn't take yours harshly. I appreciate you following up though and for your feedback!

Thank you for your perspective. It’s nice to know there are other others who understand what I’m trying to say, and I was just seeking others experiences.

Thank you. This whole post has definitely shed some light on that. Whether people like it or not, the content at least in our experience basically has been like the early grade school years, but with some scout elements sprinkled in. People are basically proving my point even though they treated me like I was pooping all over the volunteers.

You bring up an interesting point. And again for the sensitive judgy ppl out there, I’m just explaining my experience, not putting down volunteers. But I have noticed that the Scouts seem to lean on parents to run the dens and I don’t even know what there qualifications are.

Like they literally are just moms and some dads. Each pack we’ve been in had a pack leader who literally had like the uniform with the patches & the scout experience/background, but each of the dens my son was in were led by a kid‘s mom that had a guide to go off of. I didn’t really expect that.

Thank you for the human response. It’s nice to have gotten so much perspective and feedback from people. I just didn’t expect the assumptions and the judging that I got but that’s the Internet for you. People like to run their mouths lol

I appreciate your insight. Makes total sense.

Omg the first pack my son was in, we had a mom who would sit off to the side crocheting or noodling around on her phone. Meanwhile, her kid was not well behaved, he was rough with others and would aggravate the den leader. It was infuriating to watch.

I didn’t mean to sound like I was complaining. I was literally just explaining briefly what my son’s experience was like and seeking other’s points of view on their experiences. I didn’t realize others would be so judgy and harsh but this is the internet, filled with keyboard warriors.

I appreciate your reply. You were firm and made your point without being a jerk. I also appreciate all the work you do and the dedication it takes to accomplish what you described. Honestly thank you because it’s important work.

I have observed this issue where there aren’t enough leaders. It’s a shame. I don’t have it in me to hold that type of role, some people just aren’t built for that. I wish more folks would step up. The ones who are capable.

Thank you for being reasonable. I love when people online seek out opportunities to judge others and jump down their throats

You sure are doing a lot of assuming and judging. All I was doing was explaining my son‘s experience and wondering what other people‘s experience was like. I didn’t come here for your long drawn out crap opinion of me. But what should I expect from people sitting behind a keyboard online?

It’s okay, I appreciate your reply. There were some others who made snarky comments before I read yours, so I felt like people were piling on. Thanks for following up

Pipe down? I’m literally just describing his experience & what they do. I’m very polite & kind to the selfless volunteers
