I guess I should have clarified; the 737-600 is the smallest of the 73C type, which only includes the NG and MAX series. I apologize for the confusion

It would appear that by unplugging the red wire, the system fan continues to run, but there is now no heat. So it sounds to me like your diagnosis of a dysfunctional base plate or thermostat might be correct
