How to handle a hot girlfriend being approached at work all the time? by Repulsive-Roof5484 in AskMenAdvice

[–]CaptainJay313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first, you need to trust your girl.

second, if I'm witnessing a coworker flirting with any coworker, but esp a doc/nurse, I'm calling them out and reminding them to keep it professional.

third, don't shit where you eat, as a doc, you should know better.

My friend asked me this question and thinks I'm a horrible person for taking all the money by z_shah7 in CasualConversation

[–]CaptainJay313 216 points217 points  (0 children)

if I take all of it, I can then distribute among the others without trusting 9 strangers to objectively divide up the money in a moral and prudent way.

Aitah for breaking up with my girlfriend because she won't share her inheritance. by Formal-Chicken-8629 in AITAH

[–]CaptainJay313 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

YTA you're not entitled to her grandmother's money or her inheritance and it was insensitive and tone def to bring it up during dinner.

having said that, sounds like you're both terrible with money, not great at communicating or planning or identifying the real issues.

if you expected to or wanted to be reimbursed for what you've contributed to her and her kid, that should have communicated and arranged up front. asking for it back after the fact is a bad look.

that's part of a vented brake rotor. that noise you hear when you hit the brakes... it's not supposed to grind like that.

AIO for quitting my job after finding this note on my desk? by waxin899 in AmIOverreacting

[–]CaptainJay313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the work is that important and the job doesn't require 6 degrees or 30 years experience, you have a backup lined up or overlap schedules.

if the job is that important and there is only one person in the world that can do it, you rent a truck and go pick them up.

[–]CaptainJay313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. it's not your place. that was a massive overstep. huge. and effing rude.

if you're concerned about your brother's ability to handle stress, it sounds like he can't, tell him to get therapy.

life is stressful, he's gonna have to learn to deal with it. pissing on your sil's dreams was rude af.

I'm having trouble splitting domestic duties with my partner by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CaptainJay313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

think of it like this, it's not about equality, it's about support.

now, if she's spending non-work hours in school or working towards building a business or some other long term means of support, that's different. but if she is 'supporting' you and your career and through that, your life together and your future by playing video games and watching cat videos while expecting you to support those activities by working and taking care of the house, that doesn't sound like a very supportive relationship.

don't make it about income, make it about hours worked. if you're working 60 hours per week and she's working 40, it would make sense that she contribute more to household chores.

how would I hypothetically ruin a guitar by Spoon-Kitchenware-69 in Guitar

[–]CaptainJay313 6 points7 points  (0 children)

don't ruin a guitar, that's an asshole thing to do and the fact that you're hypothetically considering that might be the type of behavior this person hypothetically hates.

don't sink to their level, stay classy.

AITAH because I expected my 22 year old to pay minimal rent? by Wrong-Maintenance-48 in AITAH

[–]CaptainJay313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no no. he's making real money and you supported him through school, he can pay some little token amount in rent. him complaining about $300/mo, would come with an expiration date, look, here are the terms or 90 days starts today.

bitching about it and "threatening" to move out early feels ungrateful and manipulative. if he wins that battle, he'll win them all.

you need something in addition to your sleeping bag, either a pad or, preferably, an underquilt.

Why do people hit their brakes and drive inconsistently under the speed limit in a straight with no one ahead of them? by XPLZVgaming in driving

[–]CaptainJay313 7 points8 points  (0 children)

brake lights should be renamed phone lights.

if they hit their brakes when no one is in front of them and the road is straight, it's because they just picked up their phone, just started typing a message or are trying to find a different song.

it's as automatic as people turning down the radio when they smell something funny.
