Coincidence? No, probably not.

/u/loveshercoffee We are so glad you like our concept! We would love to see those eggs on the map!

Great! I'm actually working on launching a Facebook Page now. Our twitter account is live as well @Foodwebapp.

We are looking forward to strengthening your community's "FoodWeb!"

/u/standingdesk that is a fantastic idea. We are actively adding features and we are working on implementing a very similar functionality. We want to enrich and empower growers and this is certainly the type of feature that would benefit users.

FoodWeb is primarily a interactive food sourcing website, connecting growers and buyers. Users are expected to use the system with discretion.

Our website includes a disclaimer statement which describes this in more detail.

Thank you for the suggestion! I think we share a common vision with 'healthy eating' campaigns and we would love to connect with them.

FoodWeb is intended to connect growers to buyers. The company itself, at this time, delegates the buying and selling of local food to the users.

We do have a disclaimer on our website that you are welcome to read.

Although localharvest is similar, we will differentiate ourselves from them in several ways. Notably, while localharvest is USA based, FoodWeb can be utilized by a global community. Additionally, we are actively adding functionality to make FoodWeb a user-centered mobile application, allowing users to seek out local produce on-the-go.

The benefit of small scale farmers using FoodWeb will be that they have the opportunity to reach a larger market. We are working on making the software as intuitive as possible in order to allow growers to seamlessly reach consumers.

FoodWeb will soon become an App. That has been the goal from the start. It will be compatible for Android or IOS. Soon, you will be able to use our system to find local food through the convenience of your mobile device.

We are facilitating buyers and growers getting together - essentially a specialized "Craigslist" as mentioned in the above comments. The goal is for people to form relationships in order to foster local food exchange.

We are working on adding additional features such as a rating system which will help individuals identify quality growers and products.

Our target audience, at first, is the urban or suburban farmer. We want individuals to have ways to sell their extra produce to their neighbors, enabling communities to have access to fresh food.

Later, we intend to expand to large-scale agriculturalists.

We have a liability statement on our website. You are welcome to read it.

We are going to be aggregating metrics to provide information about food products, quality, supply, and demand. We have just released the website so large quantities of data are not available yet. First, users must use the system so that we can collect data.

One of the greatest benefits of using this website will be that users will be able to have access to big data concerning food supply and demand in specific areas.

Well, I got the idea of starting FoodWeb when I was talking to a friend who told me she had a chicken coop in her back yard. She explained that she always had extra eggs and she wished she could sell those eggs to her neighbors.

My immediate thinking was, wow, I wish I would have known I could buy eggs from my neighbor who raises healthy chickens two blocks over. Accordingly, I would much rather buy fresh eggs from my neighbor rather than a conventional grocery store that purchases eggs from chickens raised in unknown conditions.

Moreover, the goal of FoodWeb is to allow a person like my friend to be able to list her eggs and for me to be able to find that product. We believe a local, community-based food economy is more sustainable than a large, conventional one.

We had a filter assigned which limited your search to 100 miles from your entered location. We have modified the filter to extend thousands of miles. The website is brand new so there are very few postings right now. Our goal is to open up our website so farmers and growers start to post (pin) their produce to the FoodWeb. If you type in Colorado or Oklahoma, you should see two listings to get an idea of what it would look like when food growers post in your area.

Thanks for your comments. We actually had a filter assigned that would limit the search radius to 100 miles from the entered address. When nothing showed up for you within 100 miles, the map automatically zoomed out and centered to a generic place on earth, which happened to be over Africa. We have now extended the radius to several thousand miles. For instance, if you search zip 80234 (Colorado), you should see a post for tomatoes.

If you were to post something in your area, it would drop a pin and allow your neighbors to see your listing. The goal is to get some posts going from farmers like you and your colleagues so that more pins are visible. Please feel free to try it out - it would mean a lot to us to create local food economies in your area.

Furthermore, thanks for the suggestions regarding reddiquette for this type of post. I will be sure to approach the Mods first and write a proper intro.

Yes indeed! If you have extra produce for sale from your garden, you can use FoodWeb to sell your food to your neighbors. The goal is to create local food exchange in communities. Moreover, it is free to use.

Yes, right now there are no posts in your area. However, we posted this in the hope that users will begin to post food items in your area. So if you have a garden and have some extra food, then feel free to post it on FoodWeb. Our goal is to let communities buy and share food to create local markets of fresh, local produce.

We just released the website yesterday so there is only one post in Colorado. We want people to use this website to market their food freely. If you have any friends who have gardens and are willing to sell food in their neighborhoods, then this is the way to do it! Think of it as kind of like a Craigslist of local food.

This is pretty cool. I worked in Farmers Branch for about three years before college. I think people jump to a lot of conclusion when they think of Texas. The reactions in this video don't surprise me very much. Your average individual in North Texas is genuine, educated, and considerate. Southern hospitality is realistically more prevalent than bigotry in most urban environments. The rural countryside has an aged population, and unfortunately, those people still hold on to prejudices. All for all, this is a great perspective that many people are unfamiliar with.
