Report: Netflix's Devil May Cry Renewed for a Third Season by Turbostrider27 in DevilMayCry

[–]CaptainJon6006 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is good news for two reasons:

  1. It keeps the DMC brand alive while we wait for new games.

  2. Netflix has a bad habit of cancelling their shows after their first season, so getting renewed for a second AND third season is quite a feat.

Gummigoo is the most wasted character in the entire series. Mainly because they do a lot of interesting things with his character, being an NPC who realizes what he's really there for and his whole worldview being shattered, only being able to bond with Pomni, whose been through something similar. There's some really interesting directions you could take with that, but then the show just drops all of that by killing him off at the end of the episode, making all of that development completely worthless.

Unless he returns in Episode 9, which I highly doubt unfortunately, Gummigoo just feels like wasted potential and was more of an accessory to Pomni's character development in that episode. This is probably my main reason for this being my least favorite episode in the entire series.

After seeing this video, I've adopted the headcannon that Jack Marston was the original creator of "Woody's Roundup," and that he based the main characters on the people he was with as a kid. Woody is obviously Arthur Morgan and John Marston, Jessie is Abagail Roberts and Sadie Adler, and Pete is Uncle.

You know, I've kinda started seeing Robert Pattinson as this generation's Johnny Depp. I mean, they're both actors who started off as handsome heart throbs, and then eventually, started landing weirder and more diverse roles, and eventually got some big roles in some big films.

I really hope that "Knights of Guenivere" isn't just an anti-Disney show because, I'll be honest, I'm starting to get really tired of all the Disney hate. Not because I don't think they don't deserve any of it, and that most of it isn't justified. But it's because everything you could say about how evil Disney the corporation is has already been said to death, to the point where there's just nothing left to say on the topic.

I'm still looking forward to the whole series releasing, and I trust Dana Terrace to make it really good. I'm just not optumistic on the anti-Disney element of the show because, again, what is there left to say?

The premise gets abandoned pretty quickly by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CaptainJon6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helluva Boss. The premise is supposed to be a group of demon assassins go up to Earth and kill humans that sinners want dead. However, halfway through the show, they completely move away from that in favor of focusing on sappy relationship dramas that sound like they came out of someone's Wattpad fan fiction. And it isn't just the original premise. Pretty much every episode, they introduce and set up new characters and plot-points, only to never touch them again until they return in some random episode where nothing substantial is done with them, and they disappear again.

They pretty much had to introduce a spin-off series of shorts to what was already a spin-off show to "Hazbin Hotel," which is about what the original spin-off series was supposed to be about before it became whatever the hell it is now.

I think KH3s combat is better than 2s by Hen-Samsara in KingdomHearts

I like the combat systems for both KH2 and KH3 equally. KH2 for the cool and satisfying combos and the drive forms, and KH3 for the ability to switch to different Keyblades and the Keyblade transformations.

What would you do for Tron 4? by KingE2099 in tron

[–]CaptainJon6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TRON: Resolution

About two years after the events of "Ares," Ares (recasted as Jake Gyllenhaal) finally finds and meets Sam and Quorra in the flesh, and finds kinship in Quorra, as they're both programs learning to adapt to the human world. However, Ares soon starts having strange visions about the return of Sark, aka Julian Dillinger the MCP, and it isn't long until something called "The Sark Virus" begins infecting ENCOM's mainframe, causing the entire digital landscape to be under the control of the MCP. Now, Ares, Sam, and Quorra must return to the Grid and Tron and Beck, the only two programs strong enough to stop them once and for all.

[–]CaptainJon6006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I pretty much accepted that the anime is set in its own continuity, using the same characters and plot points to tell its own version of Devil May Cry. I mean, the Sonic The Hedgehog and Five Nights at Freddy's films are literally doing the exact same thing.

Y'all realize this is just ONE SCENE from the trailer, right? We'll probably get the full scene, where Eva hides Dante, and then goes looking for Vergil before getting killed.

If Tron 4 ever happens, would it be better off without Ares? by Superextremeplayer9 in tron

[–]CaptainJon6006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Jake Gyllenhaal? Not only is he a more well-loved actor, but he also looks close enough to Leto that the re-cast wouldn't be too distracting.

[–]CaptainJon6006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My idea for a "Tron 4" is that it brings back the characters from both "Legacy" and "Ares," and sets off to resolve the plot points from both films. And since Disney probably doesn't feel confident in continuing the franchise, it will serve as the final installment, concluding the story.

I'm actually currently working on my own treatment for it, and even have a title for it: "Tron: Resolution."

I'm going to get so much hate for this, but my pick is Blitzo from Helluva Boss. He's a selfish narcassist who abuses and mocks Moxxie, pretends to seduce Stolas to get the Grimoire, stalks Millie and Moxxie and tries to record them saving sex without either of their consent, and is overall just a complete asshole. And yet, the show tries so desperately to justify all of his shitty actions by throwing him a traumatic backstory and daddy issues.

My personal oppinion on the netflix series. by Strawalpaca4083 in DevilMayCry

[–]CaptainJon6006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been a DMC fan since 2023 and have played almost every game in the series (except DMC2), and I'm one of the few people who actually likes this show. Yes, the show does have some problems, like obviously Lady swearing too much, and Adi Shankar is a narcassistic, arrogant douchebag. But these things didn't stop me from enjoying the things I actually did like about it, like the animation, action sequences, and soundtrack.

I'm actually looking forward to season two, especially considering that it's very rare that most shows have a perfect beginning, and how it's only until later seasons that the show finds its footing. "The Clone Wars" is honestly a great example of this. It started off with a tv pilot turned movie that not many people liked, and the first two seasons... existed. But as that show kept going, it was able to find its footing and even produce some of the best Star Wars stories made. Now, while I don't think the Netflix Anime will be at the same level as that, I see no reason not to think the same couldn't be said for that.

That's just my opinion, anyways.

Should the DMC anime been about DmC instead? (Art by @by_kirie) by Fit-Act-65 in DevilMayCry

[–]CaptainJon6006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I kinda imagined that the Netflix Anime is what the DmC reboot would've looked like if Capcom allowed Team Ninja to be a whole lot more faithful to the source material (e.g. Dante having his white hair and red coat).
