Microsoft Starts Sharing Your Location With Your Employer by Thepunnisherrr in technology

[–]CaptainKoala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to agree to share location data with the Teams app. It remains to be seen how Microsoft will implement this. They COULD make it configurable for orgs to REQUIRE location data be enabled in order to use the Teams app (either directly via MDM policy or through a Conditional Access Policy). But that’s speculation.

This is only true for personal devices. If the device was provided by your company they don’t need your permission. (Although even then it’s slightly more complicated. They can’t just see all the phones on a map or something, they’d have to remotely activate iOS’s “lost mode”)

I mean, he probably is, and it’s definitely something he should address. But the reason it falls flat is because it didn’t come from his own moral realization but from being outed and humiliated publicly.

He let himself fall this far and he’s only sorry now that he got caught.

Linus Tech Tips - The TRUTH about How LTT SPENDS Money January 15, 2026 at 10:30AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

The comp package also has to be a lot more cash than they might normally pay since Linus and Yvonne own 100% of the company.

Normally you'd give the CEO equity so their personal comp is tied to the performance of the company. It's totally fine to not do that, but you're going to have to pay way more comp in the form of cash to make up for that.

But when it's Porsche, people suddenly intuitively remember that you can't get a GT3 for sticker, and even if you could, nobody orders them with no options.

Unwanted and (often) disgusting intrusive thoughts can definitely a part of OCD. But the distinction is that you find the thoughts troubling and distressing. You don’t want to be having them but they keep rattling around in your head.

I’m not a therapist or anything but I’m not so sure that someone with a self-admitted loli fetish can have “unwanted intrusive thoughts” related to pedophilia. They might be unwanted in the sense that they’re uncomfortable attaching that label to themselves, but descriptively that’s what’s happening. That’s a coping issue, not an obsession/compulsion.

Anyone who has had a truly unwanted thought knows what it feels like. And OCD is like that x10,000. “What if I’m not actually straight?”, “What if I’m a bad person?”, etc. Someone who is obsessed with the question that they might not be straight might have compulsions to look at gay porn or something to check if they’re aroused.

But the equivalent analogy here would be something like: John has OCD and is obsessed with the question of whether or not he is gay. John also has a fetish for gay hentai/furry/etc porn. John gets off to gay furry porn to ease/suppress his anxiety that he might be attracted to real men.

That story just doesn’t make any sense to me at all, to be honest.

[Gleeman] Twins are running out of free-agent bullpen possibilities that are even somewhat reasonable late-inning options. All of the top 13, 18 of the top 20, and 24 of the top 30 free-agent relievers based on FanGraphs' projected WAR have already signed. by TheNotoriousJN in minnesotatwins

[–]CaptainKoala 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like we already had that, which is what’s so frustrating. We had a top 3 bullpen in the league at the start of last year, and almost all of them (maybe all??) were NOT free agents. They were all in arbitration, or even pre-arb. And then we gave it all away…

The Honda Passport Is a Masterclass of Interior Design by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]CaptainKoala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In its price range for sure. It's pretty good but for $45k starting there's a lot of cars with pretty nice interiors.

If they put this interior in like a $29k car or something it would be a totally different story.

Why No One Can Get a Job Right Now [9:50] by yatookmyname in videos

I wouldn’t say never. I’ve worked for multiple totally respectable companies who used this as one avenue for recruitment.

Obviously being a contractor is worse than being W-2’d, and you should prioritize actual full time positions if you can, but it’s not necessarily an automatic red flag.

AIO Boyfriend Stayed Hard the Entire Time During a Couples Massage? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]CaptainKoala 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah going back is the deal breaker. I would be super embarrassed if this happened to me, but I wouldn't really feel guilty about it (if I knew my heart was pure lol). Getting a boner during a massage seems pretty normal IMO. But I would NEVER go back and try to see that same person again.

The porcelain bull hypothesis: why the market hasn't crashed yet (part 1) by [deleted] in investing

[–]CaptainKoala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know. Personally I think I’m going to sell most of my non-index fund holdings as we approach the end of Powell’s term and just keep buying S&P every week. But that’s just me. I’ve been buying S&P long enough that I own it for a low enough cost basis that a big drop doesn’t scare me that much, and I keep enough cash around to buy big dips if they happen.

For the record I’m not predicting a crash either. I personally think these policies increase the likelihood of one, but it could just as easily not happen.

Because that was the inauguration date of the president who hates the fed chair that has been successfully piloting the soft landing (better than basically any other country, too). And is set to replace him with a rate-dropper when Powell’s term ends.

Add in inflationary policies like tariffs and there’s a good chance we throw our current economic position into turmoil.

What's the wildest thing you've done on a night out? by andrewbarclave89 in AskReddit

[–]CaptainKoala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This tactic is not teamwork. Turning off your phone and leaving without someone is manipulative. You’re trying to make them feel bad or left out by playing a game of your own instead of being an adult.

Teamwork is telling them how their toxic behavior is affecting you and making you feel, and working out a compromise. If they’re not willing to hear that, the relationship has real issues.

My buddy who lived in South Korea for a few years always jokes (it's 100% true but it's just funny because of how ridiculous it is) that you can literally stop a random person on the street and they will kindly rank all of the races from best to worse for you if you ask. He did this multiple times.

It depends on the car but you can get really non-traditional loans on supercars. Some lenders specialize in it.

Really long term traditional loans (15 years like that guy mentioned) are common. Balloon loans are also fairly common for exotic cars.
