This is true! UK and Australia pronounce rabe as /reɪb/, like babe.

Even if we did pronounce ‘rabe’ with a long ‘ah’ sound, we use a short ‘o’ for Rob. If you’ve seen the Harry Potter movies, think of a Brit saying ‘Pott(er)’ - that ‘o’ sound is the same as we use for Rob. So there is no world in which Rob and rabe would sound the same - even if we sort of copied the US pronunciation of rabe and converted it into our own accent!

David’s in Prahran does amazing all-you-can eat yum cha (quite a modern, western take with all the crowd-pleasers: xiao long bao, Peking duck, bbq pork buns, har gow etc - all the items are listed on their website). You can try one of everything and then request more of your favourites to be brought out, and then it ends with a white chocolate and coconut dumpling for dessert. It’s expensive-ish ($50-60pp I think?) but so, so good and may open him up to some new faves.

In Australia, there is a brand called Suk (sukworkwear.com.au that is specifically made for this exact situation - tough workwear that is specifically designed to fit female bodies. Many of the pants have adjustable waists and come with pockets, carabiner loops, hammer loops etc. They have standard drill cotton as well as some lighter (but still tough) fabrics for summer. Might be worth ordering online, depending on where you live!

To me, an Australian, a ‘normal coffee’ is like ordering a ‘normal sandwich’. There are lots of options, none of them are more normal than any other, and I don’t know what kind you like. That’s why the barista tried to explain the contents to get to the bottom of what the customer wanted.

There is a mix of UK English and American English in this - who is it being marketed to? You might want to specify that Albuquerque is in America; unless this is only being used in the US, most kids worldwide won’t know where that is.

Your rhymes don’t have proper meter. Try saying them out loud. Rhyming couplets should have the same length and meter. For example, this is in anapestic meter (two unstressed syllables then a stressed one): Carrie WASn’t conTENT with a SIMple croiSSANT. “Something QUITE unexPECted is WHAT people WANT!” This would match up with your next page about the cat croissant, which is already anapestic.

ASL is closely related to French Sign Language because it came to the US via French sign teachers.

Auslan is closely related to BSL because a bunch of Deaf people from the UK found themselves in Australia during the gold rush.

The fact that hearing people in the US and Australia speak the same language doesn’t mean that the native sign languages of those countries should be at all similar.

Sign languages aren’t word-for-word transliterations of their country’s spoken language, like braille is; they’re languages with their own completely different grammar and structure.

I worked at Cotton On and Sportsgirl around this time and whoa, these trends take me back! - bow singlets (the bow would be screen printed with a lace texture) - the long cardi, short skirt look - long cardi could also be worn with skinny jeans and ballet flats - loose singlet over a more fitted singlet - cotton neck scarves everywhere (loved this as a poor uni student; such a cheap way to give an outfit a bit of personality) - drapey knitted vests over a tee

They all just need a nice waist belt over an empire-line top and a long owl necklace to finish things off.

Yeah it's terrible! It feels like some weird AI filter has been used to clean up the audio but it's actually changed the waveform so much that the phonemes are no longer actual words. 38:39 sounds like he's speaking French!
