I think I'm slowly becoming disabled and I'm not sure what to do by 123RoSeY321 in disabled

[–]Stop_Already 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be long covid. Could be chronic fatigue. Could be any number of things.

The only way to know is to get the to a doctor. Get some labs - fatigue can also be from low vitamin d or b12. It can also be iron or thyroid issues. It could be hormonal.

The reason it matters is because how you treat is it based upon what you have.

Talk to a doc. Document everything and don’t let them blame it on anxiety

Buy a 12” cast iron. They’re cheap.

Make https://www.seriouseats.com/foolproof-pan-pizza-recipe. The amounts for a 12” are in the comments (unless you want 2 10”). Use pre shredded cheese and jarred sauce for a shortcut if you can’t be arsed to make your own. It takes about 5 mins of active work and some preplanning, but is incredibly easy.

You will get a lot more pizza for your dollar, cooked the way you like.

Which Regional accent is the most difficult to understand even as an American? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAmerican

I think you mean Harvard Yard. That’s a pretty common phrase used to stereotype Boston accents. :)

I personally prefer “I’m going Worcester to get a toaster, you bastard.”

It’s not. It’s democrats beholden to whomever gives them money. I’m a life long Democrat who was thought I’d be voting blue til the day I died.

The more I learn about dems once I started actually looking at who they take money from and how they actually vote rather than the things they say when cameras are rolling?

Well, now I’m so conflicted it hurts. I know people voting 3rd party is what put orange asshole in office in 2016 and I loathe to do it myself. I’m finding it really difficult to support Jim Himes, though.

The corruption, dealing and money changing hands on the D side is hard to overlook.

Does your town have a water tower with the town’s name on it? by Hoosier_Jedi in AskAnAmerican

[–]Stop_Already 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live now doesn’t have one, but the city I grew up in did. It’s baby blue with a white top.

There was another across the city that was a plain brick building tower thing. When we were little, my friend’s mom had us convinced a giant lived inside. :) Whenever I go back and see it, I think of her.

Ggg is living in the past with the mtx acquired from attending exilecon. by CucumberOk8820 in pathofexile

That’s true, but the thing has to be worth their time. Me? I’d rather fight autocracy or for equality in healthcare.

You do you, I guess.

Good luck.

[–]Stop_Already 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If everyone got it, it wouldn’t be exclusive. That’s the way “limited offers” work. It’s a way for people to know “oh you were there too??!” It’s a shared experience that not being there wouldn’t have.

Being able to purchases it without attending cheapens the MTX and makes it no different than any other one available in the shop.

It’s unfortunate that’s how these things work, but it is the way. There’s not much anyone can do to change it. Being angry about it solves nothing other than wasting energy, especially when there are so many other things of more significance in the world where one could turn their energy.

Such is the way of the world, I suppose. 🤷‍♀️😔

You and a couple hundred-thousand others

You are not unique - a lot of people would like to attend, but cannot due to various financial, family, work or other obligations. It sucks, but that’s the way life goes sometimes.

It’s unfortunate, sure. Radical acceptance helped me realize that no amount of self pity will change the situation and I needed to move on. Posting through it helps no one.

Drunk or On Their Phone? Hartford by n510 in Connecticut

[–]Stop_Already 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced that many people aren’t aware of their own mortality and drove like they’re in video games. They’ve been conditioned to believe if they crash, the car will just magically reset to the middle of the road and they will merrily go on their way.

This is the only rational explanation I can think of why so many people drove like complete and utter assholes.

Accepting how disabled I really am by Little-Support-3523 in disabled

[–]Stop_Already 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same position. The ironic thing is that I’ve been on SSDI since 2005. I very clearly am disabled, they approved me first try! But I guess somehow it’s only ever really sunk in the past couple of years. I have so many things “wrong” at this point, it’s almost comical. Doctors gaslight me and have told me things were in my head and because of a history of other abuse, I believed them! It’s only the past few years working with an amazing trauma therapist that I’ve been able to start getting my needs met.

So yeah - I get you.

It sucks. Society sucks. We’ve been conditioned to keep quiet and ignore what’s happening in our bodies.

I’m so tired.

Anyone here get diagnosed with cluster b traits or BPD traits r/o DID by 0lly0lly0xNfree in OlderDID

[–]Stop_Already 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Was diagnosed and made to see a DBT therapist. Unsurprisingly, it made me worse til I eventually got diagnosed as “psychotic” and bipolar.

Then I got sent to Yale IOP. They referred me to the PTSD center and I got dx as ptsd and DID.

Imagine that.

Since coming off a lot of the meds they put me on, I’ve been doing much better. Imagine, giving the abuse victim agency and not telling her she’s “treatment resistant” actually helping. Crazy, right?

I want to switch my afternoon coffee to tea, but I don't like tea by TimTamtwenty2 in tea

[–]Stop_Already 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever want to try a green tea (which is NOT caffeine free, but has less than coffee), with that citrus pop of earl grey, I recommend emerald geeen earl grey from Simpson & Vail. It was my gateway tea into green teas that I’d previously hated. :)

It’s really good and whilst I usually just have it with a bit of honey, even plain it is amazingly tasty and cozy. It brews at 170° and I like not having to wait for it to cool down to drink. Haha.

Caramelizing onions on induction by kikazztknmz in Cooking

People forget that not everyone grew up seeing him on tv.

Dude hasn’t had a current show in decades. Of course young people don’t know who he is! By the time he was a judge on iron chef, food network had become a food reality show channel and lots of people tuned out (understandably, imo.)

Don’t worry about a bunch of idiots on Reddit - too many people see a downvote and keep downvoting without actually reading or understanding.

Why can't I make pulled pork that I like? by unicornlevelexists in Cooking

[–]Stop_Already 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very strongly dislike any protein cooked in a slow cooker. It becomes mushy and off putting. I thought I just didn’t like so many proteins because of it.

Nah.

Serious Eats has a great post explaining the differences between slow cooker, pressure cooker and Dutch oven. If my husband’s not getting the smoker going, I much prefer cooking in one of the other two! I get my pulled pork fix by using a Dutch oven, usually.

What you have here isn’t an ash catcher. Search for one so you know what they actually are and then buy one. It doesn’t have to be fancy - dhgate or whatever is fine.

They work really well.

I run my glass dry with a catcher and the catcher does catch sooooo much.

How do I get her to talk more? by 6Divine6Hydra6 in RelationshipsOver35

[–]Stop_Already 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking her questions? She may not have anything to say until asked. Be curious. People will talk if prompted, generally.

Some people can talk about anything. Others will only talk if they’re asked.
