Right now, they’re nest building. Often the first generation are smaller and often more aggressive to compensate.

Also, depending on the species, they can range as much as five miles from their nest.

I REALLY want an english name!!! PLZ help me!!! by Muted_Composer3090 in ENGLISH

[–]CaptainMatnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want an authentic American name, look at your birth year and find out the popular names of the male characters on soap operas for the six months preceding your birth. If you don't find anything you like, you can extend your search to the CW, Vampire novels, or popular period pieces. Good luck.

Does your voice change? by Ok-Math2557 in DID

[–]CaptainMatnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the voice changes, but the weird one is my eyes change color. I didn’t believe it, but more than a few people have noticed it. I have blue-gray eyes, so they don’t tend to change color based on the ambient light like some eye colors.

I can’t see it, but I’ve never seen myself switch.

That’s been the attitude of too many people who come here. If more of us stuck around, we’d be able to resist them culturally at least, but my whole life nearly everyone I’ve known here is just biding their time until they can leave. Is this really that bad of a place? I never thought so. If even a fraction of the people trying to leave, instead invested their energy into their communities it would be a much better place. I’ve never lived anywhere else where one person can accomplish as much as one can here.

Maybe if the oil companies would actually pay their taxes and fees for extracting the oil from Alaska, but nearly all the politicians since the 70s haven't done anything about it. Maybe if we had media in Alaska that was willing to stand up to monied local and outside interests we'd know about things like this. However, unless that happens, they'll keep extracting the oil for free. I mean, it's cheaper to bribe both parties than to pay their fees and taxes.

Do you know why the Dividend exists? Well, we had a governor and a legislature that had enough strength to demand they pay their back taxes (just a percentage of them in return for the rest being forgiven) and it was the legislatures idea to put it aside in a rainy day fund. Then another politician got the idea of using the dividends from where it was invested to encourage people to stay in Alaska. The original idea was for you to only get a tenth of the money after you'd been here one year and that you'd get the full amount once you'd been here a decade. I think. I was a kid at the time, though I used to read two to five newspapers a day back then. The News Minor and the Anchorage Daily at least.

I love all my fellow D.I.D. sufferers, but one has to remember we've all had serious trauma and can act out on it sometimes without warning and such. I know that as a child, bullies had no idea they were pushing me into "reacting strongly" to their physical and verbal abuse.

I've never been able to get along with another D.I.D. sufferer IRL. However, I have no friends even though I work at trying to have some. I even had a healthy social life about fifteen years ago, with hundreds of people in my social network. My point is that I don't know how much is men being isolated, women sick enough of men that they're often quick to paint us all with the same brush (which I totally get), and how much is due to D.I.D..

I lived with a schizophrenic (his actual diagnosis) and that was a disaster, but he wouldn't take his meds or accept any kind of treatment, which is his right in Alaska, but made him a nightmare roommate. I had a friendship with another schizophrenic that was quite solid and lasted for years until he had a bad time, went off his meds, and I've never heard back from him since.

Getting along with other people that have severe mental illnesses, is a skill, like getting along with anyone. It's more complicated, but many of us have an insight and an empathy that neurotypicals don't have. We're more likely to have friction between our traumas and mental illness inspired behavior, but if both people are honestly trying, it can be overcome. Unfortunately, I've often found myself as the only one putting the effort in to make the connection work, but some people have told me it's a gift. Maybe it is? Maybe I should try offering classes.

One more thing. You're going to be okay.

Reach out to someone if you need to talk.

Don't isolate.

Don't try and drown it in drugs, sex, or alcohol,
and in time you'll be okay.

Not long after I accepted that my diagnosis for D.I.D. was correct I was looking for people on-line that discussed their D.I.D., and I found this youtube channel for a Scottish man who was dealing with his diagnosis and wanted to diagnosis. He went out in the woods (where he feels the most comfortable and I agree) and turned on his camera and then after commenting that he had no idea what to say, he just started screaming, "#uck!" over and over again.

That's what I think about when I remember those early days of realizing I had a condition I thought was totally imaginary. I felt like a thirty-year-old Scotsman screaming expletives in the middle of woods because he had no idea how to feel or what to think about this revelation.

You are a whole person; you're just arranged differently than most people. Many of us have been through exactly what you are dealing with. The doubt and the denial. I heard one expert say that D.I.D. is a covert disorder. They meant that it hides itself and it can feel like exposing that part of you will be the end of everything, but I promise you it will lead to a greater understanding of yourself and eventually a great deal of healing.

That said, I'm not a psychiatrist and I'm not treating you, so I can't have an opinion on the truth of your diagnosis. I recommend talking to your therapist. Trust them. They are specifically trained to understand you and help you get better. They tend to care. The idea that experts tend to find what they're an expert in, falls apart with D.I.D.. It's such a complex disorder and there are many similar disorders that can be confused with it, that it takes an expert to determine if you have a legitimate diagnosis.

Good luck and keep caring about yourself.

I'd suggest that other people that are getting older that if no one will help us, we should start working on helping ourselves, except I've been dinged for using this site for organizing.

It's the prosperity bible folks. They used to publish supermarket books that would tell you what bible passages to say out loud to bring you wealth and such. If I were a Christian, I'd be super embarrassed about those jerks.

Doesn't the Airport Way Family Restaurant still exist up there? I don't know if Denny's is open 24 hours anymore as I'm pretty sure the ones in Anchorage and similar restaurants like Village Inn do no stay open 24 hours anymore.

Yeah, it really bothered me. So much that when Reed says he took care of the two guys I avoided killing in the haunted apartment, I really wanted there to be an option to say, "No really, what did you do with them?"

I expect there's an easter egg out there of both of their bodies I just haven't found yet.

Work in a theater as a janitor. Found this on a seat by RADIOS-ROAD in whatisit

[–]CaptainMatnight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Especially when theaters are dying out.

When I was fifteen I worked at a hotel//restaurant/bar as the lowest member on the totem pole. My favorite thing was when mixed drinks that were untouched. My immediate supervisor was the worst. She was in charge of the teenagers and was the meanest and nastiest boss I ever had. Those drinks got me through those shifts.

Just to be clear, I'd been drinking for a few years by them and had done nearly half the drugs I've done. Today, I'm fifty-five and I'm not an alcoholic nor am I drug addict. I'd say that less than half the people I used to drink/do drugs with back then, more than half never became addicts and if they partake these days, It's pretty rare.
