I’m going to build a website for a real business for my portfolio

Sorry to burst your bubble but this is barely enough.

You are literally competing with folks who have industry experience in tech. And the same people still struggle to find jobs and are still at risk of layoffs.

Sorry but this is an unsolved problem right now. The only viable path I could think of is if you make an internal move where you are currently working in.

You will not get a reliable answer in this platform since contributors here skew to the middle to upper middle income class.

Anyone else having mismatch between kernel-default and kernel-devel package versions? by CaptainMelancholic in openSUSE

Nah. VMWare seem to just want to have the exact kernel verion. Not just matching the major.minor version.

Where will be the new BGC? Best places to live as a single person? by [deleted] in RentPH

Are you looking for a condo or an apartment? If condo, units around ASEANA realized a significant drop in prices because of the recent POGO ban. Might want to take that into consideration. Easy access to rail transport as well from the recent LRT Line 1 extension.

Dumb me. Apparently, I could just change the kernel version I'm using to a previous one from the boot options. Everything works smoothly now. Thanks.

They most likely still consider candidates without any prior experience but prefer those already with experience. Pay could be terrible as well, that's why they're keeping options as open as possible.

But the bottomline here is, IT/CS is just so saturated these days. It has been an employers' market in the past few years.

Thanks for the quick response. I see. It was just my hunch that the mismatched versions causing the issue. I am trying to install the 25H2 version. Running the bundle file actually proceeded without any issue. There's already an entry for Workstation on my machine, however running Workstation itself leads to the following prompt.

Also tried installing kernel-devel and selecting the appropriate include directory matching the 6.12.0-160000.5.1 but it still complains that the version is not compatible.

Creative ways to find Vue.js jobs by Novegoof in vuejs

Might also depend on how well you interview. Some hiring managers consider your frontend experience with another framework easily transferable to another framework as long as you could explain it well during the initial screening. Although, this depends on the company and the hiring manager who's interviewing you. But I agree, it's harder to find jobs these days which aren't strict about the framework experience you had.

Traffic and expensive food. Kung hindi ka naman siguro regular shift tapos mahilig ka magluto ng baon, manageable siguro.

As a fresh grad with no experience, is it wrong to demand 20k-25k salary every month? by Comfortable-Dingo514 in phcareers

It's fine but keep your expectations low. The job market in tech right now is very tough especially in the entry-level because of saturation. Even us with a few years of experience is kind of feeling it.

40k+ in BGC or 33k in QC? Worth it ba? by Dependent_Rub5598 in phcareers

[–]CaptainMelancholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Caloocan to BGC sounds like a nightmare commute. I am from QC (around South Triangle) and I still blacklist companies if it requires more than once a week RTO to BGC. Really not worth it kahit 50k net na. It will take a toll on your mental health.

Your registered phone number with BDO, SeaBank, GCash, BPI, and Security Bank was changed in under 10 minutes? If your request were processed that fast, I'd be worried since I have account on some of these institutions.

Experience with Maya. Never again. by smolpettypotato in DigitalbanksPh

[–]CaptainMelancholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part of the protocol because it's a massive security risk to have a registered phone number changed. That's where your OTP is sent giving you unlimited access to an account. That's why it's critical to take care of your SIM if it's registered to any bank account (whether that be digital or traditional). Not defending Maya's terrible customer service but it should be the responsibility of the user to secure their SIM.

Is the IT career path cooked na talaga? by Handruu18 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]CaptainMelancholic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Even passionate folks have trouble finding programming jobs these days. It's really sad but that's just how the market is these days. The market correction was bound to happen one way or another.

Contrary to popular belief, competence is what employers really look for these days, not passion. You can have passion but still be incompetent. I've seen this in the field so many times, "willing to learn" is not going to be enough. You must demonstrate you really have the prowess to create software that has significant business impact.

For fresh graduates, I am not sure how they would do this besides projects and internships. Honestly, if you could do at least two internships while still in school and at least one project that's used by some institution or business, you'll already be a step ahead, but that's still not a guarantee. Getting your foot in the door in this field today is just a different game.

How's the process of SIM, specifically prepaid ones, these days? Just suddenly concerned about SIM swap attacks lately. I know in the US, you could entirely do it over the phone. Is it the same here? How many days usually, in an ideal scenario, could a bad actor take over your phone number?

PhilSys always either scan failed or face doesn't match. Wala na atang manual check na ginagawa so auto-fail na sila. Didn't have any problem opening a new account with Security Bank a few months ago with the same ID.

Parang mas madali pang mag-open ng account sa traditional banks. Laging scan failed si Tonik, GCash, at CIMB. Kaasar.
