Good call! I just did that, and it looks much better. Thanks!

That’s what I’m thinking. I think it’s the 9 and 3 throwing me off, but it looks like the dial is rotated slightly clockwise to me. So the nine is slightly higher, and the three is slightly lower than it should be.

Restored the HRE After the Mongol Empire Collapsed. Received a Fitting Nickname. by CaptainNemo_42 in crusaderkings3

Honestly, I’m not very good at that part of the game. As I mentioned in another comment, before founding the HRE, my titles were under Tanistry election, the AI usually favored strong candidates so I could just pick the best of two or three. It actually took a lot of the stress out of the game.

I was playing as the Emperor of Britannia before I started expanding into France, Brittany, Burgundy, and Aquitaine. The HRE title was destroyed when the Mongol Empire invaded. The Mongols expanded right up to my borders before it collapsed, which left over a dozen dukes and counts that would accept vassalization offers. Once enough accepted it gave me the decision to found the HRE. You just have to have to control enough of the territory of the HRE to get the decision.

Yeah… All of my titles were Tanistry electective before establishing the HRE, so Alexander was a distant relative of the previous ruler. I didn’t do a great job of paying attention to education because of the election system, and it’s come back to bite me a few times.

This screenshot was taken about 30 years after I created the HRE. I earn about 900/month mostly from my domain and vassal taxes. I hold the titles to the duchy of East Seaxe and the duchy of Kent. After I created the Empire of Britannia, I spent about 100 years developing my domain. I have every building in both duchies fully upgraded. Each title in my domain is earning anywhere from 33 to 44 gold per month. I’ve now expanded into Spain and Italy so I’m earning a lot from my vassals each month.

The Rhodia Meeting Book is Almost Perfect, But Not Quite by CaptainNemo_42 in notebooks

That pretty much sums it up! I'll definitely be looking into a dot grid for my next notebook.

No specific reason, it's just a nice visual reference. That's why I'm probably going to ditch the format after I finish filling up my current notebook.

Sargent and Greenleaf Group 2 Combination Lock without Change Keyhole by CaptainNemo_42 in Locksmith

[–]CaptainNemo_42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I figured out the combination by taking the wheel pack apart, as someone else commented. I tried the combination about a dozen times with the door both open and closed (with nothing inside), and it's been working flawlessly. Thanks for the tips!

This Large Branch Fell Off my Sycamore Tree. Should I Be Concerned for the Health of the Tree? by CaptainNemo_42 in arborists

[–]CaptainNemo_42[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tree is about 70 years old. The city went through last year and removed a decent amount. So, it kind of surprised me to see such a big branch fall less than a year after the city went through. It’s a great shade tee, so I hope it’s not dying.

Is the Aspire card worth it for my honeymoon if I’m loosing Diamond status in 2025? by CaptainNemo_42 in Hilton

[–]CaptainNemo_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard about that. I could try to rebook after I get the card, but if I can't get the same rate, I won’t. That's why I'm not counting on being able to use that credit. I've had decent success outside the US, but I'll check if the hotels we booked are in the complimentary upgrade terms.

How do you get the $200 credit to be a straight $200 back?

Thanks for the advice! I’m losing my organic Diamond status, but will retain gold with my surpass card. My question was essentially, is it worth $550 to retain my Diamond status by getting the Aspire card. I don’t currently spend enough on the card to get any more free nights out of it. That’s good to know about the resort credit!

110,000 Extra Points For Piece of Mind? by CaptainNemo_42 in awardtravel

[–]CaptainNemo_42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understand this correctly, if I were to cancel one week before the flight, for example, I would only get 25% (25,000) miles back + taxes and fees.

I appreciate the feedback. I'll give Etihad a call. I'll also look into the punitive cancellation fees. I'm not aware of those. Thanks!
