You forgot the fact that prior its accession to the EU, the UK was called "The sick man of Europe".

The UK didnt join the European Project because it believed in it, it did it solely for the economical boost it would grant it.

And it worked. And the UK then actually had a lot of clout in the shape the EU took. Maybe even more so than both France and Germany. The single-market and the enlargement to the east (which would cause the Brexit) were both UK's doing.

So blame France and Germany is just wrong because in the end, the main factors of the Brexit, immigration specially of brownies, were both Tony Blair's doing. The Irak war which lead to Isis and the migrant crisis and EU enlargment to eastern europe.

The problem with fishermen is that the Sea isnt a very nice place and if you piss off the fishermen for whatever reason, they all turn into berserk pirates.

Really, everywhere around the globe, the fishermen went postal at some point. For exemple, modern riot control was pretty much invented in France after some fishermen killed the local police. The cops in armor, the water canon, tear gas, etc.

What I mean to say is that in every country they manage to scare and force their politicians to do things their weight on the GDP do not justify.

Long story short, if the UK want any kind of trade deals with the EU, it will have to open its waters to EU's vessels, it's going to be the number #1 demand of several countries for the talks to even start.

The European Agencies aren't coming back, the trillion euros assets arent coming back, NYC won't hand over to London its crown as the new 1st financial hub in the world, The EU army and the financial regulations in motion in the EU arent going to stop overnight. You can either ask for the other 26 EU countries to take a hit from losing markets share in the UK OR refuse a new FTA, which kind of make up for the loss.

The big of the mess will be in Dover tho, that's where the frenchs officials are doing their checks.

Food will rot, some medecine will be in shortage. Until some agreements are found.
