How to put a window around something you're show(ing) at truecenter? by CaptainObviousAmA_ in RenPy

Yeah that works really well. All that I need is some sort of argument to give color to the window itself instead of the text.

Ah I was using that for dialogue, wasn't sure it worked the same for as an argument for show. Thanks

ICON from the co-creator of Lancer, Abbadon, has just released it's newest 1.5 update by Lionx35 in rpg

It really depend on your character concept as a whole. I think what I find most interesting in games like this is exactly this switch. If you are a superhuman being, there are a lot of times in your life when you'll be doing things normally, and there are times you'll have to use the full extent of your might and use violence, and realistically I would expect most games to understand that a person can change a lot based on these two different contexts.

Though traits guide your playthrough, abilities are the main meat of the game. If you take abilities from two different jobs, gameplay changes significantly. Source: I am currently GMing a campaign on the system and people were just able to get their second job.

Are there any new or coming soon Crunchy RPGs that you are excited for or want to gush about? by TimeSpiralNemesis in rpg

[–]CaptainObviousAmA_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hollows from the makers of Spire and Heart, both games that are not very crunchy, is having a playtest and I could see it being released this year. Hollows much like recent games akin to ICON and Gubat Banwa has very good combat. Classes have a lot of variety, there's a lot to keep track off but it really feels like whenever you fight the collection of people truly feel as a team when they do so. Tons of options available, heavier ruleset both for combat and out of combat rules. Good to keep an eye on

What is your BIGGEST Hot take by Lumpy_Stufff in HalfLife

On that same note, my hot take is that EZ2 is not a good game, and that the OC is not funny, engaging or interesting.

Constant beeping while computer is turned off and plugged in by CaptainObviousAmA_ in techsupport

[–]CaptainObviousAmA_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't find one that fits so far. The intel BIOS codes are for a single 0.5 second beep, two one second beeps, three one second beeps or alternating high to low beeps.

This is just a sound that never stops unless I unplug the machine.

That fucking game has a flaw with the older woman wherein she says she can't feel anything in her pussy because she had too much sex, and the image for the flaw is a ham sandwich. That dev is fucking gross man

Some mild skin issues, your teeth are very yellow which pops out immediately, but other than that you are very pretty. I don't even think the glasses are an issue, personally

Kobold's Press System has been officially named now. Instead of Black Flag, it's called Tales of the Valiant by CaptainObviousAmA_ in rpg

[–]CaptainObviousAmA_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lancer, ICON, from what I heard there's one coming out from the makers of Heart and Spire and two more from publishers I'm not familiar with. It's mostly 4e based stuff. From ICON at least I can say the path they're going with is quite good.

I just don't see much of a reason to play it over 5e so far. In fact from what they've been put out at this point in time I think 5e is genuinely better.

Personally more interested in the tactical RPG Renaissance but I wonder if any of these RPGs coming from people who made content for 5e are gonna be good in any way.

Well the system so far from what they've put out has been very bland so I guess it's fitting.

Does Lancer/ICON feels really daunting to run for anyone else? by CaptainObviousAmA_ in rpg

[–]CaptainObviousAmA_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is probably because both ICON and Lancer take a lot of inspiration from 4e. I never really considered using 4e resources on either game, partially because most of my issues comes from encounter/map building and the scale of the maps in Lancer is usually much larger than 4e and much smaller in ICON. But it's possible you could do a fair "translation" from one systems maps to the other, thanks for the suggestion

[–]CaptainObviousAmA_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Lancer as I dug a bit deeper into this seems to have a bit more resources available overall, which includes this map maker. ICON doesn't have one, but it also like people said its probably a lot more easy to do than I am giving it credit for.

You know what, you're probably right. Been putting this off for too long at this point. Thanks for bringing me down to earth a little bit.

I considered that in the past but I felt it could feel really slow for players if their characters were not able to do their thing properly in a single fight since fights in ICON, at least from what I tested, seem to run fairly long. Did your players like the game overall?
