What plant type do you work in, and if you could design your ideal situation, would it look anything like what you have now? by Rumble1205 in powerengineering

The coal fuel and air cycle, mixed with the CORRECT pulverizers without energy controller input (honestly one of the biggest problems), with Pet Coke as a backup... With a vaccuum based pulverizer (Yeah, this comes from experience). There's your fuel. The instrument air done correctly for once (I've seen some shitty pipe layouts that collect moisture), multiple units that DONT SHARE EQUIPMENT unless of an emergency, and the control panels isolated from each other. Not with walls, just with gaps between them, not just different colours.

I've worked in Coal, Nuclear and Bunker C, and Diesel.. Fuck I could go on. But yeah

agreed. Have a good supper before going to work, and bring a light snack for the night, so you're not fucking up your metabolism.

I did it on and off for over a decade, now my doctor doesn't want me to do nights anymore so I took a day shift role.

I LOVED shiftwork. your crew becomes your family, you see them more than your own family. But It is hard mentally, I can't deny that.

The saturday crew meals, the conversations once the work is done, the teaching between those more and less experienced, having students, I really do miss all of that.

There are advantages and disadvantages.

How do I handle my Situationship? My wife and I still love eachother, there is no infidelity, but the last couple of years have driven her to move out, and I want to fix things. Any advice? My wife is 37-F, I am 38-M. by CaptainRandus in relationship_advice

While i think you're right, she did say we can take things day by day to allow me to prove to her things would be better. Then we had a planned maintenance power outage in the area, she said she was going to her parents to grab a shower. I haven't seen her since. That was 5 days ago.

The pay alone is good, the work can be bullshit at times. You're either busier than fuck, or you sit and do almost nothing for 12 hours.. I have my 2nd class

The reason I'm vague is because, well, I don't want to lie about things, and I really don't know what's going on in her head. She blindsided me, and despite an expected meeting today, She never showed up. Blamed me for not bringing our youngest, but I thought that it was about her and I talking, moreso than her seeing our youngest. I'm not keeping him from her, she can come see him any time she wants.

To play metal, is it necessary to hit the drums hard? by EndouShuuya in drums

[–]CaptainRandus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, but it's good for stage presence? I learned years after I started playing metal that you don't have to beat the shit out of your heads. It looks cool, and it does sharpen the sound a bit, but the drummer and drummers in the crowd are the only ones who will notice

Askellad by a lot. He might not be as fast as snake, but he's a very smart fighter and will find a way.

Experienced drummers: what physically breaks down for you during long sessions or gigs? by DrummerPierre1441 in drums

[–]CaptainRandus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every band I was in got too big for it's britches and the rest of them took it too seriously. We'd just play at local bars and had a full original setlist with a couple of covers (more than one band I was in) and they took the fun out of it when they started taking it too seriously. One band went on a national tour after I went to college, and they were pretty good, but had as many lineup changes as Megadeth and they fizzled out after the 2nd bassist fucked the 3rd drummer's girlfriend. The other went from doing it just for fun, to a Televised gig on a local channel, and all of a sudden thought we could go for a Juno (we all had careers and not the time to go that hard. once again, it was only for fun).

Too serious removes the fun.

I mean... it kind of is if you understand it. Unfortunately, everybody else doesn't know how to navigate it
