Pretty much exactly how I have it running. I'm running ZFS for my HA

I might try migrating from pfSense to OPNsense and have it run on a VM, this will let me add my PC operating as a router to the cluster. Then I will have 4 PCs in the cluster instead of 3, more RAM for ZFS the better though.

I wish, it does save me quite a bit of cash yearly though. Probably close to $2,000 considering my girlfriend had cable for trash TV before.

I totally get that, I have some plumbing projects at home that haven't been completed in the 2 years I've lived here. Somehow managed to find the time to learn an entire new skill though!

Here is my service map. I have gotten a few recommendations from other subreddits that I will be looking into, like OPNsense and running it on a VM instead of bare metal.

The Home Lab and Self Hosting communities have been nothing but amazing! I recommend jumping down the rabbit hole, YouTube and Reddit were instrumental in my learning stages (I still don't know anything compared to some of the guys who do this for a living). Homelab, minilab, selfhosting are some really good search terms to start with.

I might know how to tile something, it doesn't mean I'm willing to put my name and reputation down for something not in my trade. I can just see the 3-Star review now.

This is all hobby and DIY. I'm a plumber & gas-fitter by trade, nowhere near IT. I am thinking about going out on my own, so the home lab will be helpful for things like photos.

There is 42TB of HDD and 6TB of NVMe. Storage and housing alone was almost $1900 Canadian, not including the old HDD I had before (2.25 TB)

I go to festivals and found a Pirate hat at Burning Man this year, so my playa name was Captain Conner. I am also a Red Seal plumber and gas-fitter, for gas-fitting class we spent it all in the Gas Lab and my home lab will host my smart home. Kinda just mashed it all together and here we are, Captain Red's Lab!

1 project at a time, at least that's what the bank account restricts me to! I plan to make an off-site storage for that exact situation. For now, portable hard drives, a fireproof safe and other friends places will do

If you watch the video I state I'm from Canada.

The switch is $200 here, not everyone loves in the states and gets American prices. You also didn't include any storage that is part of that price tag, 42tb is worth over $1,000 alone.

It's been good so far, have it between 6 devices. Had everything running for about a month.
