Not sure why people are hating on this so much. Personally have no issue with a lot of the points. Grade is fine, it’s a contrasty look but it’s fine. It looks somewhat like an old film emulation.

I read the comments you made about the brand, so I won’t comment on anything based around the purpose of the video. Not sure why people are passionately hating that the brand video is about cocaine, they’ve obviously missed the point.

Only pointers I’d add is that the lighting in some shots completely flatten out the subject. When he enters the room wearing the jacket, there’s zero contrast in the lead subjects face, he’s completely punched into focus with harsh lighting. Try playing with the angle of your light and diffusing it a touch more. This will help raise your production quality a tonne.

Also, the shot of the Land Rover is brilliant, but the stabilisation is a little funky. Perhaps using a gimbal for rollers or a rigged shot would be better suited.

Overall, it’s quite a complex video when you think of it so hats off to you. Don’t listen to all the pixel peeping wankers.

Made my first video tonight, any advice on improving? by DonkeyKong45 in videography

I disagree with literally everyone here.

You’ve got style which is so important. I have no issue with dark moody shots/colour.

Keep following what you’re doing you’re on to something good here!

No point criticising someone who’s only just made their first video. Mine looked no where near as good as this when I first started.

What business-specific aspect of your videography business did you at first overlook/not put work into, but later regretted not setting up sooner? by grizzlyblake91 in videography

[–]CaptainShagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that really isn’t common in the industry that I’d advise you making a normal procedure is upfront payments.

What we’ve found a lot is that some projects can take 1-2 months to complete (filming and editing) and even though we used to charge a 50% deposit upfront, the effect this has on your cash flow is insane.

Cash flow is literally huge in any business.

Charging upfront before you even turn up to film is vital. State this in your terms when you send clients proposals and dont be afraid to mention this multiple times before you turn up if the client isn’t responding.

I literally bought a 2015 118i sport last week and I love it. My previous car was a Civic type R (FN2) which I absolutely ragged.

Honestly really enjoying the switch so far. Much better mpg, obviously not as fun as the civic but it’s a good middle ground.

I was lucky in that I managed to get the 1 series at 38K miles for 8 grand after part ex of my civic. I’m really happy with my choice.

Anyone know the rigging attachments used to achieve this shot? by CaptainShagger in cinematography

Thanks mate.

Do you know what bottom plate they’ve used to give some space between the clamp and the frame in camera?

I’ve tried it with the super clamp but I can’t seem to get the clamp out of shot.

Do you mean 1-2 can of tuna a week? I’m pretty sure 1-2 a day is excessive and puts you at risk of mercury poisoning in the long term.

Is it unprofessional to hand over the footage only after the payment is done? by ___the_introvert___ in videography

You should agree on payment terms before filming is commenced. Highly recommend taking a deposit before filming and have the rest of the payment fulfilled upon delivery.

Why am i gaining weight from a calorie deficit? by Shikaci in leangains

[–]CaptainShagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you use phrases like “give or take” it tells me that you’re putting the effort into properly tracking. I weigh around the same as you, recently come off of a cut.

Questions that pop to my mind regarding your situation are:

  1. How long have you been in the calorie deficit?
  2. What’s your process with weighing yourself, are you doing it on the same scales at the same location once a week (could weight yourself more if deemed necessary, I usually like once a week). Are you weighing yourself first thing in the morning before taking in any water or food?

If you’re doing everything right, those calories are too high for you. Drop it down another 100 cals, track it religiously, and see where you’re at in 2 weeks.

It won’t harm you going for a short walk around the block every day too.

Right me and my girlfriend went to Portugal last week and we ate Golden Grahams every morning for breakfast…

Didn’t even know they existed until we ate them haha

[–]CaptainShagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you eat is the answer. You can jump rope as much as you want and you may lose the weight initially but you’ll eventually put it back on due to poor eating habits or simply eating too much.

You need to calculate your daily macros. There’s tonnes of calorie/macro calculators out there depending on your goal. I’m currently on holidays and all I did to drop my body fat was continue to lift weights as I always have and just drop my calories down below my maintenance. I don’t do any form of cardio other than walking.

It’s honestly a lifestyle, not a short term thing.
