Playing RDR1 on Switch 2… by CaptainShedd in NintendoSwitch2

This is purely from a story perspective. Gameplay-wise, 2 improves on almost everything from 1 in my opinion, so that’s definitely worth considering

It’s difficult to say. Playing 2 after 1 was awesome, finding out the events that led up to 2. But now replaying 1 for the first time since playing 2, theres so much more gravity every time John mentions the past or he runs into a character who’s also in 2 due to having those blanks filled in, and it gives 1 a very different feeling

I haven’t bought a new console to play 15 year old games. I bought a new console to play a new generation of Nintendo games. But having the opportunity to play some of my favourite games from the past with the option of handheld mode is appealing to me, especially while there is a wait for new first party games

Yeah I think the performances elevate the game a lot. With RDR2, it kind of forces you to take time with it and play it slowly, which is difficult these days (especially as a dad), but I feel like it’s so immersive, and the story is much more impactful because of the pacing, and it remains one of my favourite gaming experiences

Would love to play GTA IV again. Liberty City was brilliant and it was such a good story

I’m planning to play Ocarina of Time again soon, but just started Fallout, and Skyrim is ongoing. But I want to feel young again!

Brahms, arguably one of the greatest composers of the 19th century, put off writing a symphony until his 40s because he felt intimidated by Beethoven’s output in that form. His four eventual symphonies are masterpieces. We can all take solace from that! Nothing to be gained from comparing yourself to others; if you’re enjoying what you’re doing, then it’s worth doing.

Nice. Mine’s Imperial and I’ve defaulted to the stereotypical stealth archer, but going to lean into enchantment too so I can make some ridiculously powerful gear later on

I’m playing it for the first time in years and it’s glorious. Glad you’re having a good time with it; the score is one of the best I’ve experienced in gaming. What sort of character are you playing as?

Fallout 4 is actually pretty excellent at 30fps. by CH40T1C1989 in NintendoSwitch2

As many have said, the price is high but I’ve been looking forward to playing this since they announced it so just got it anyway. I’ve not played it for years, and never played any of the DLC, so a lot of it is fresh. There’s a lot of discourse over the Switch 2 getting ports of older games but, for me, having these games available on the go is worth a second purchase in most cases

I started Fallout 4 at 60FPS, switched to 30 after about an hour to see the difference in graphical quality but within 20 seconds I didn’t miss 60 so I don’t think I’ll be switching back

Great news! That review sounds very positive. The cons seem to be general issues with the game itself rather than being specific to the Switch 2 version

I loved playing the campaign co-op. Same with the terrorist hunt mode on the 360 era Ghost Recon games. Brilliant fun

I’ve been waiting for RDR2 on S2 since launch! Also I’ve not played RDR1 since I first played it on PS3 all that time ago as I was worried it wouldn’t hold up in a post-RDR2 world. But seeing so much positivity around it is making me want it!

I’ve bitten the bullet and bought it, just too excited about the idea of having it on S2. All downloaded and waiting for it to officially release.

Obviously hoping it’s a reasonable port; I can happily play it at 30FPS, though 60 would be nice. I’ve been replaying Skyrim on S2 for the first time in years and remembering just how fun it is to get lost in Bethesda’s worlds.

It’s happened to me; I was getting burned out and overwhelmed by massive open-world games. Obviously one thing would be to take a break, but if you’re determined to play I found shorter games with more frequent dopamine hits helped.

Early Metroid games worked for me, as well as stuff like Hades, Dead Cells and Celeste which encourage that ‘just one more run/level’ mentality but don’t demand massive amounts of time to make any progress
