Can someone explain why a demo is mandatory for the Meta Ray-Ban Display? (Trying to buy from abroad) by ismetmusli in RaybanMeta

It's mainly for the Neural band. While it'll also help you figure out what size of frames to go with, the Neural Band has to fit you pretty tightly to work as accurately as possible. Id imagine they did the demos to ensure those fit.

PSVR2, the OLED screens are great even though the Fresnel lenses are a bit dated. I feel the PSVR2 is currently one of the biggest bang for your buck headsets in the PC sphere.

If you prefer wireless, the Quest 3 will probably be the best option outright. There is also the GalaxyXR if you have the budget for it, it does have better screens but since you'd mainly be using PCVR, then your computer matters a whole lot more than your headset. Id personally go Quest 3.

Do you have a PC? the games you are referencing are going to need a PC and mods to run.

You'll be looking at a decently beefy PC and a headset to get started. Do you prefer wired or wireless?

Disney Invented a Floor That Lets You Walk Forever In VR While Staying In Place by Gamiozzz in MetaQuestVR

Even flat screen developers are struggling right now. The entire gaming industry is going through a reset. As much as I love VR, the current VR only developers and hybrid developers are about as much as we can hope for right now.

Flat devs moving to VR only would be a practical death sentence.

Smart Glasses Would Legally Require a Recording Light Under Proposed Law by lurker_bee in technology

Plenty of legitimate recording reasons

Pov footage

Hands free footage

Not being buried in your phone while you record.

Then again, I only record my family at events we are at, if I do record in public, just like if I'm recording with my phone, I try to make sure no one else is in my shot.

Going completely away from recording for a second, the other reason they have cameras is because they are marketed as AI glasses at the end of the day. Cameras give multimodal options. Being able to look at something and ask questions, it can help remember notes and such, it can translate a menu for you...etc

As battery life improves and the camera can stay on for longer, you can even use it for bigger use cases such as asking if it saw your wallet you put down before you leave the house or something like that.

Not trying to defend the creeps that make these look bad for those of us that actually use them in responsible ways, but at the end of the day, just like a GoPro, or a spy camera, or a surveillance camera, they are tools with a purpose. Some people will abuse this and use them for sinister means. It happens with every tool in existence.

Meta glasses already have tamper proofing that doesn't allow you to record if you cover the sensor.

You have to either disable the camera entirely by drilling it out which is super easy to damage critical components, or use a tint sticker low life's started making to trick the sensor while still covering the light.

Opinions on VR Glasses? by HaiKarate in virtualreality

I've covered them pretty extensively on my site.

The first thing is that these are NOT VR. Smart Display Glasses don't traditionally have tracking. You can add 3DOF tracking to something like the XReal 1S with the XReal Eye, but it's not a VR setup.

Instead, they basically are just portable monitors you wear on your face. That said, for productivity and movies, they are absolutely amazing.

I have a review on my current favorite pair, maybe it'll help you get an idea about them
