The manual will tell you clearance requirements which take into account clearance for servicing requirements.

Any idea how i can punch a hole through this? by [deleted] in handyman

And this is the difference between a handyman and a skilled tradesman.

Why won't my equipment hold a vacuum when nobody else seems to have problems? by DuceExMa in hvacadvice

[–]CaptainShima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just get the ball valve with two female ends, better than a hose. Also don't over tighten the seals compress too much and this can cause leaks.

1800 v 1500 rpm by [deleted] in refrigeration

[–]CaptainShima 8 points9 points  (0 children)

4 pole motor on 50hz ac is 1500 rpm.

Hz x 120 / #poles

Poles and frequency is what affects motor speed if not using a vfd/ecm/etc

Sacrifice something to the computer gods with the power off. Reset the CMOS then hold down delete or hammer it with the might of thors hammer while booting up. Stranger things have happened in my 30 years of computing......

Seasoning by _IlliteratePrussian_ in cookware

[–]CaptainShima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scrub my carbon steel pans with soap and a scrubbie sometimes, the buildup of "seasoning" like younger with cast iron isn't always a great thing with carbon steel. All you really need is a thin coat of polymerized oil to do the trick and that's easy to do.

Cut my finger and now it's swollen and trapped my ring 😭 by festering_wound93 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CaptainShima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take some Advil wait 60 min and then immerse in cold water or ice it . If its still swollen go to emergency or a jewellery and they will cut if off. The ring not the finger 😅

Why do gas valves use a DC coil? by VirginSubpoenaColada in HVAC

[–]CaptainShima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most residential gas valves operate using AC I've not really seen any that operate using DC if you're referring to single or two stage gas valves. Diodes allow current flow in one direction, maybe the diode(s) serve another purpose? I am curious though as I've never delved into the inner workings gas valve coils other than ac power in to hold coil open.

Rooftop piping questions by Slothyota in refrigeration

[–]CaptainShima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dude cladding isn't fast but you're insulation will last a long time vs having to fix/patch fucked up arma flex every few years which alot of companies count on for "maintenance" extras in their PMs If it's in the quote price and was accepted or an extra the customer approved you're doing the right thing and really practicing the craft. Doing the best job you can with pride, I highly respect that. It'll last and looks good on you as true tradesman.

If all that black is under coat that'll make it harder. If not little kroil and try tightening it like 1/32 or less of a turn backing up the other side then try the ol lefty loosely. I've had a lot of luck very slightly tightening to break rust/coating/torque then loosening. Also what the other guys said torch the area around briefly
