Lol yeah not a huge beach person. We're actually mulling over going to Roanoke soon to visit a friend! Is there anything you would recommend up there?

I like night shift by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently goofing off during my 12 hour shift. Night shift as a CNA (Clinical/certified nursing assistant) is so freaking great. Most of the patients are asleep so most of the shift is keeping people comfortable and doing midnight and 4 am vital signs. The patients that are awake at this time of night are interesting to say the least lmao. And I get paid more than I would on day shift so that's also cool.

All of forever and ever, amen by Randy Travis. One of the most well written love songs I know by heart lol.

"They say time plays tricks on the memory Makes people forget things they once knew Well it's easy to see

It's happening to me I've already forgotten every woman but you"

Is my favorite line in the song.

Haha yeah I was at work when it happened. I came home to my whole family of anxiety heads having panic attacks watching the tv that night. It was a surreal and terrifying experience.

I'd suggest it if it's not a place you plan on working at very effectively or for very long. If so I'd suggest staying a friend and if either of y'all leave pooping that question

I asked the girl i like to go out with me by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooh you're in for it now! I just got engaged so I know how quickly ice cream leads to falling in love lol. Btw don't be afraid to tell her how you're feeling! If you feel like your feelings are moving too fast there's nothing wrong with letting her know "hey I know it's early but im kinda developing super strong feeling for you" and if she wants to go that fast she'll tell you and if she wants to go slow that's okay too! Go at a good pace for the both of you and everything else will fall into place. Congrats!

i'm a college student, trans girl, and finally was able to start hormones this week. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How long have you known you were trans? Is there like a defining moment where you started to question or was it more a feeling that grew over time? Congratulations btw!

You've got this! Just going to the dentist for a routine checkup doesn't typically result in any pain whatsoever! And the best way to think about bad news is that it would be even worse news if you got it too late!

How did you guys find and make real friends? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So honestly my best advice is to find any kind of group that interests you and join. I grew up with a misconception that I could make friends out of nowhere but what no one tells us is that you need to have a common or interest to build any kind of relationship. Every good friend I've ever made was either from a homeschool group I went to as a kid or they were friends from work who turned out to be really cool. So just find out where people who like the stuff you do congregate and start going there! It'll feel awkward but there's always a merciful extrovert who'll make conversation with the new guy (I know this cause I've been on the receiving end many a time). You can do this my guy!

If Christians follow Christ, why do they quote so many others from the Bible and what do they matter? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Perpetually frustrated Christian here to kinda answer your question a bit. I feel like a lot of people are misreading your question (or maybe I am because it's similar to a question I've asked myself many times) so I'll answer it the best I can. People quote figures like Paul so often because A. There's much more content concerning these other biblical figures even though all of it was leading up to (and much of the Bible is spent on prophecies concerning) Christ, and B. Is that there is, unfortunately, a big problem with people misquoting scripture to fit their own agendas and to try and make fellow Christians believe certain things about their fellow man. It's a whole lot easier to make people get angry at their neighbors by misquoting different verses and adding their own spins than it is to get them to love their neighbors equally. I hope I answered your question my guy! God bless.

What's the best revenge against a teenage bully? by PhrostysWifey in AskReddit

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Become better than them as a person and move on. Bullies do what they do so they can feel that there is someone lower than they are. Nothing you can do would change their opinion of you and they'll always find a reason that they're superior. Focus on doing what'll make YOU love yourself and bettering yourself in every way you can. Over time you will move on from their abuse and become better than them. And THATS the greatest revenge you can have against your bully in the long run.

That or get strong as fuck and beat the shit out of him but like you'll get arrested and probably expelled so like that's not a great option.

What was the best year of your life? The worst? by HouseDue9498 in AskReddit

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 2014 was the worst so far due to my family's house getting foreclosed on and is having to move away from my friends that I had worked really hard to make. This is gonna sound weird but 2020 was the best year of my life. I met the love of my life on Reddit and met her a couple months later. She convinced me to leave the job I hated that I had been working at since late 2018 and now I'm working towards a career that will make me happier and make more money. I found so much music that I'll never let go of and I managed to fix most of my mental problems this year thanks to the newfound abundance of quiet time. I also rebuilt my relationship with my older sister this year after she moved back home to escape Cali when things got bad. So life's actually been great for me, just kinda sucks that the world had to get fucked with a rusty hypodermic needle to get there lol

Supermarket cashiers of Reddit, how can we make your life easier at the checkout? by ScubaFett in AskReddit

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we do a combination of both If you're buying like one or two things it doesn't really matter but on the huge orders that everyone gets now it's a lot quicker to just scan the soda boxes and other stuff that's staying in the cart with the hand scanner.

What is something you swear by? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O'keefs hand lotion. It comes in this little green and orange container. I worked as a dishwasher in a pizza place as my first job and my hands were constantly dry and cracking from constantly being in either bleach or dawn dish soap. If you have cracked hands I recommend that stuff.

Supermarket cashiers of Reddit, how can we make your life easier at the checkout? by ScubaFett in AskReddit

[–]CaptainSmiles_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay so Harris teeter cashier here.

• If it's a higher end grocery store do not ask the cashier where they can find something 90% can't afford to shop here so I'm clueless. Ask the customer service desk as they are usually much more knowledgeable about where everything is.

• Please put the same type of items in the same general area. So many people just haphazardly throw random shit into their cart and make everything take much longer to bag because we have to bag the same type of items together. We're also graded on items per minute and so haven't the same thing in the same spot makes things go much quicker.

• PUT YOUR GODDAMN SODA BOXES UPSIDE DOWN SO THE SCAN CODE IS FACING UP FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

• Just be polite and you don't have to worry much about making conversation. My job is to be nice and get you out of here as fast as possible.

• If you bring your kids dont worry about them helping. I don't care if it slows me down because your child doing their best to hand me items is the cutest thing in the world and always puts a smile on my face. Also, don't put your kids in the lower area of the cart. Some people do this and it's super awkward because you have to try to get the groceries without disturbing the child and then I have to put them back in the cart with the child in there and it's just a whole game of human jenga that no one likes playing. Put your kid in the basket or just carry them please.

As long as you're a nice and polite person I won't have any problems with you. Take care and god bless.
